What were the original prices on 4000 series in 1996 ? glass/alumy ? How about the 7000 series ? I read the difference between glass and alumy was only 10K ? Really ? Can sombody give me a price breakdown with years and increases / hell how much was a componet compared to a roller ? Ive read 70k for a FIA/CSX originally , does that mean some csx's are actually appreciating ?

The difference between a glass csx4000 roller and an alum one was only $10K differnece in late 2007 and early 2008 when I was looking to buy mine. That is the only reason why I kick myself now as the difference now is about $60K higher.

Remember the suppliers of the ALUM chassis changed as well.

The cars they are building now are better on average than the ones from 2003 or so.

More consistent. -- there are still little issues, but constant improvement is the thing here.

In '96 a fiberglass component car was something like $38,900. No 7000 series in '96. In '96, the price difference was $40,000. I've never heard of a $10,000 difference between 'glass and aluminum.

The price of a fiberglass 7000 trailed the fiberglass 4000 by about $5000. In 2000, the 4000 was around $42,900 and the 7000 was $38,900.

All this is off memory, so if anybody wants to make corrections, I won't be offended

I feel the boys in Las Vegas at the Speedway are the best at building Cobras. Much better than any of the foreign shops can hope to be.

I ordered my CSX 4000 at the end of 2006, and the difference in price between glass and aluminum cars then was definitely much greater than $10k. As I recall, it was roughly $40k more for an aluminum CSX 4000 car (over a glass car).

Using the search function, in the Year 2001:

Unpainted aluminum roller
http://clubcobra.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10303

Painted aluminum roller
http://clubcobra.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10302

Painted fiberglass roller
http://clubcobra.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10304

So comparing painted rollers, the aluminum painted roller was $76,231 versus the painted fiberglass roller at $56,885 in the Year 2001, which is as far back as this website goes. Just about a $19,346 difference.

Fiberglass CSX roller (no stripes) today at $50K (if still available):
http://www.hillbankusa.com/Inventory...Inventoryid=14

I think from past posts by Evan, the aluminum roller is around $115,000-$120,000. The fiberglass rollers are about $50,000-$55,000. So the price difference today is in the neighborhood of $65,000.

I can only speak for myself but the "options" offered by shelby the roller added up to $16000 over the base of $50K and a base roller was $76000 alum. That adds up to $10K difference I spoke about

But base prices look to have $26K difference. That's unless the options you added for $16K are standard on the aluminum version, which would make it a $10K difference. Are those $16K options standard on the aluminum model?

I priced both CSX 4000 and 7000 a couple months ago and they contiune to go up with the 4000 being $ 59K and 7000 another $8K higher. The other thing Shelby has done like a lot of other replica manuf is to make a lot of the items that were std years ago now options like stripes. In these times you would think the prices would be dropping a bit and maybe so with the post above but I was looking in Jan I talked to the dealers out in Ca and knowone mentioned one for $49K...maybe a loss leader deal.
