CARROLL SHELBY AND GARTH BROOKS TURN HORSEPOWER INTO HEARTPOWER FOR CHARITY
...racing legend and country music star RAISE FUNDS for children
GARDENA, Calif. – July 13, 2010 – On behalf of their Foundations, Garth Brooks and Carroll Shelby will auction the production number two 2011 Shelby GT350 Mustang prior to a private musical performance by Garth Brooks on Friday, July 16, at the Wynn Resort and Casino in Las Vegas for Foundation guests. Proceeds from the sale of the rare, muscle car will benefit deserving children through the Teammates For Kids Foundation in association with The Carroll Shelby Foundation.
The Carroll Shelby Foundation was founded by automotive legend Carroll Shelby to provide financial support for children battling life-threatening illnesses and promote continuing education. The Teammates for Kids Foundation was founded by Garth Brooks to assist children around the world with a guarantee, “100 percent of the money goes to kids. That’s not a goal, it’s the rule.”
“Through the efforts of their Foundations, Carroll Shelby and Garth Brooks are auctioning a special piece of history and most importantly, helping children,” said Jenni Shreeves, executive director of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. “Not only will Teammates For Kids benefit from the sale of the car, but the highest-bidder will own the CSM serial number two 2011 Shelby GT350 by Shelby American. Since Carroll owns CSM serial number one, this is the lowest number GT350 ever offered to the public.”
By participating in the one-of-a-kind auction, a donor will be able to choose personalized custom options from Shelby American for the 45th Anniversary Shelby GT350 Mustang. Carroll Shelby and Garth Brooks will both be on-hand to congratulate the highest bidder, who receives not just a piece of American muscle car history, but an exclusive VIP tour of the Shelby American Las Vegas Facility.
“We’re honored and thrilled to partner with the Carroll Shelby Foundation,” said Don Johnson, president of Teammates For Kids. “We truly appreciate Carroll’s gracious gift to our auction. We can’t thank him enough for his time and energy in raising money for children who need it most.”
The supercharged 2011 GT350 was designed with advanced engineering that only Shelby American can provide. The all-American muscle car is a modern evolution of the 1965 Shelby GT350 that raced into Winner’s Circles across the globe. On Friday, it will have the added bonus of being personally signed by both Carroll Shelby and Garth Brooks.
“The Carroll Shelby Foundation partnered with Garth Brooks and Teammates For Kids because both organizations are dedicated to helping our youth succeed in life,” said Shreeves. “Carroll believes in giving back to the community, whether he is auctioning a car to help support his educational programs or donating his time with children who have life-threatening illnesses.”
Proceeds from the 45th Anniversary 2011 Shelby GT350 will benefit the Teammates For Kids Foundation in association with the Carroll Shelby Foundation. Top qualifying phone bids that have met the minimum reserve will be invited to attend the event in Las Vegas for the final, live auction.
