To Owners of CSX 8000 289 Slab Side Cobras
Owners of CSX 8000 289 Slab Side Cobras recently received the following information from Shelby American.
It has come to our attention that the Shelby Cobra 289 Slab Side and Anniversary Slab Side locking gas caps are not venting as they are supposed to be. Attached is a picture as to how to correct the problem. It is very important that this ventilation issue be addressed by you. We have had two different cars build up pressure in the fuel tanks and flood fuel into the carburetor or carburetors. This can cause a fire. Attached are pictures of the gas caps with a small hole drilled into them. Please have your installer do this to all the locking Gas Caps on 289 Slab Side Cobras.

ok, maybe it's just me, but there must be better ways to vent your gas tank. Is that really their recommendation?

In Australia we aren't allowed a vented system.
In a nutshell, the gasses must pass through a charcoal canister and then are introduced into the inlet manifold to be burnt.

Why would you need a locking gas cap? Do the old school unit, I am doing Enots.
