Do they still own it, or have they sold it on...?

Very nice car, excellent job of removing side pipes and roll bar. Nice write up of the car's history, though tey left out the best part. Read the history in the registry from 97. I knew the owner Doug Mc. when he owned it in Detroit, and funny thing, I was the Ft. Laud cop mentioned in the registry. The care was red, sitting in a showroom on Dixie Hwy in Pompano Bc. Fl, he reall rough shape, lousy paint, and dents all over.

It was then purchased by a couple of guys in Ft. Laud, I watched them restore it over several months, painting the car black, I wasn't sure they were on the up and up either. I lost interest, to busy with CSX 3183 and kids and family, next I saw ir was when I visted Kirkham before they started with the Poles.

Car has a storied back story that's for sure.

So you do not like the BFGs? The original owner put Dunlops on mine, and I was thinking of an alternative.

What non-bias ply tire would you have put on CSX3104? Avons?

Thanks for the suggestions. The previous owner said this is the car that "inspired" him several years ago to build my car....he added a few of his personal preferences to my ERA though.

That would be weird, because several years ago the car was black and had side pipes and a roll bar.

Ned, if you dispute the claim, you can contact him if you need proof. It is not just a coincidence that the cars look similar. He has been following and collecting Cobras/Shelby for over 40 years and he races and collects vintage cars to this day.

It depends on your definition of "several" since this car was completed about 5-6 years ago.

Nasty and snide comments from keyboard commandos like yourself are what makes forums unpleasant.

427 Street, I'll give you a bit of a pass due to your low post count...but ease up. OK?

First, you are probably ignorant of the fact that Nedsel has also been following Cobras for over 40 years. Nedsel is, in fact, the Cobra Registrar for the Shelby American Automobile Club. Ned has collected more information, data and photos of original Cobras than anyone on the planet. Now, you know.

You cannot trump Ned's authority; This "commando" makes this Forum quite pleasant and we are appreciative that he regularly posts here.

As far as CSX3104 is concerned... I did some photo work on this car in 2002... and, guess what? ...It was as Ned described...roll bar, side pipes...etc. Definitely not a street config.

thanks
ron

It's interesting that they appear to have the same approach to tail pipes that you used on your ERA - under the axle. I wonder why they didn't follow the factory route through the wheel wells - unless the SC wheels and wider tires interferred.

Ok, you are right...I jumped the gun with a knee jerk response. I guess my skin has not thickened even after being on forums since the mid-90's. My thought is that there is always a nice way to say something and get your point across. Things can be misconstrued in the 2-dimensional computer screen and by not actually talking to someone.

No foul. You are correct that that can be the case on most forums...

...we try and watch for that behavior and snip it quickly.

Enjoy.

Please, don't anyone get mad at me for interjecting, but I saw this as as good an opportunity as any to ask what I have always wondered... What original beauty was my CSX6000 car modeled after? As a CSX owner, I do not have the opportunity to talk to "the guy who built my car"😉
I enjoy seeing pics of original cars all the time... It transports me to those years and makes me realize how cool these things were then (as they are still today). I fantasize about owning one if this originals then... How stupidly fun and cool it must have been.
someone posted elsewhere some pics of a couple of 289 cars that are for sale... Wow! I guess that's why I got my CSX replica😊

Dan, That's a good point about the tire and wheel size. I had no choice because of the upgraded ERA rearend's brake placement. The Jag rearend allows you to go up and over. I thought the same thing when I saw the exhaust on 3104. The clearance is low, but you get used to it once you drive it awhile. At first, I kept forgetting how little clearance there was, but it then becomes second nature. Legendary MC had a 289 car...forgot the chassis number...but it was also blue and it looked like the pea shooter pipes were actually an inch or two from touching!

Apparently the 427 continuation-series Cobra body molds were taken from CSX3057, which was one of the so-called "completion cars" produced by McClusky for Shelby American. Click HERE for more info.
