Leah Smith and the Shelby Foundation
Just a quick note. Leah Smith, who was Shelby's inspiration for the foundation when she received a heart transplant at 11 days of age nearly 22 years ago, and spoke at his funeral at the Peterson Museum, received her second heart last night.
Remember that for everyone who receives such a gift there is a grieving family. Leah wrote a wonderful letter in the days before her new gift to her first donor. Regardless of your feelings to Shelby and his foundation, this is not something you can ignore. Please, please, sign up as an organ donor. There are not enough to go around. |
