I'm having trouble with the math:
Quote:
celebrating the 50th anniversary of the big block Cobra by offering 50 limited edition versions of the iconic roadster
|
AND
Quote:
The 50th Anniversary Editions (serial numbers CSX4500 to CSX4599) have some unique differences.

Maybe they're doing odd numbers?
Else looks like a misprint. Bad proofreader.

Put a 50th badge on a Cobra, sell it for more money. Shelby is gone but the Snake Oil Keeps Flowing.

The link at SAI says VINs will be CSX4550 – CSX4599 (different from press release).

$120K without drive train. A little out of my price range for 'glass bodied replica.

For 120 large (or 180 if you want aluminum) you'd think they would at least use the proper three-spoke (separated) steering wheel? Even Shelby now disses the unique details that used to set a CSX apart from the field.

It's 'proper'. It's just 15" instead of 16".
You knew that.
Even if I had a "50th". I'd turn those 'special' badges into cool paperweights.
I just have to remember what paperweights are for.

Yup, "$179,995 for an aluminum bodied car, without drive train."
So, a Kirkham roller with $20 worth of goldish badges for $180k?
Wow.

This is of course very predictable. But since the 427 Cobra is probably the most replicated Cobra in the world, with copies everywhere, I wonder if this one can really stand out from the crowd and command this price. I would be willing to bet it does not sell out quickly, but who knows.

Since dealers purchase and not the consumers I would expect the usual suspects to buy them out. Remember it took something like two years from announcement to final delivery of the other 50th anniversary cars so inventory at any one time is very small. A few will be end user preorders, but most will be spec buys.

I suspect you are right, the dealers hold sway over the orders and that is how they make their money.

Not really, a Kirkham roller with standard features like a billet aluminum suspension, better brakes, etc. is actually a much nicer roller than the Shelby aluminum version, but that's just my opinion.
Of course you can buy the Shelby roller painted, hmm, maybe the paint makes the Shelby cost so much more...

That is totally BS, for anyone or dealer who paid any sort of franchise fee.

That makes sense since customers deal directly with SAI when having a Mustang modified. I'm sure some will disagree with me but I don't know what value-added a dealer brings to the table.

Well, even if you buy it through SAI, you still have to have someone to finish the roller and get it road worthy, etc. That is where a good dealer comes in, since SAI can't do any of that.

Not the dealer. Installers are separate from the dealer in most cases. They may have a business relationship but you can use one without the other.
