Default Wilwood brakes for CSX4000

We have a high number CSX4000. Looking to put up in storage the original Shelby twin piston floating calipers for some Wilwoods. Any info on which calipers will fit the 15" wheels and and any other mods or parts needed to complete the job would be greatly appreciated.- Thanks, Steve

I make a pretty sweet set up to put the 4 piston Wilwoods all around.

Have you tried stopping with less pistons and floating calipers? Who wants Corvette parts in their Shelby?

The Acton set that I waited more than a year for comes with plasma cut front rotor hubs instead of machined hubs, this parking brake, and a lot of shims and spacers to get it to fit. As far as I know this setup has never been tested on a running car.

Heres the front plasma cut rotor hats, not sure if they are safe to use? I will not be using the rear park brake since the spring drags on the rotor along with the pads and was told the corners of the pads will wear off and re adjust..
I think kirkham makes a nice wilwood setup, but dont know if it fits other front and rear up rights.

If they are concentric and true the plasma cutting wouldn't bother me as much as if they are hard enough. I've seen plasma take the temper right out of a piece of steel.

The Shelby (PBR) Floating twin piston calipers will not even begin to stop the car. The brake pedal is rock hard with no feedback and the car will not stop, I personally can't see how anyone would drive the car with such inadequate brakes......What do think about the upgrade 4 piston kit from Baer that are branded Shelby for the CSX4000's. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Kirkhams use ( rather the older ones did. Not sure what they use now) Wilwood 4 piston calipers. I know the rears were Dynalite calipers but I'm not sure what the fronts were. However, my point is that the Kirkham I drove had excellent brakes and very balanced under hard braking. You could contact David Kirkham on this site and talk to him about switching your brakes to his set up. They may bolt on but he would know.

I have used them to upgrade the PBR's and they are a big improvement. For the benefit of people that have no clue what they are talking about they are rotor hats, precision laser cut fronts, made from 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum, rear have same material CNC machined for the offset, using only washers. Wilwood offers about a dozen different pad compounds to give you something that works from street to track. It's obviously pretty pointless asking for any help on here so contact me offline if you have any questions. I'm going to work on my car!

Note the gold color steel spacer between the caliper and the aluminum bracket, because the Acton bracket does not have the correct offset

Just a side note:
Newer CSX6000 Cobras have 'Shelby' branded Wilwoods.
They look like the Shelby branded Baers on the outside.
Don't know when they changed.

Not wanting to start a pissing match, but rock hard pedal combined with weak braking is indicative of incorrect master cylinder bore selection. If that is the only issue, changing calipers to match a master is taking a very expensive route to solve a simple issue.

I agree, I have passed on the master cylinder bore diameters to the Wilwood techs (the master cylinders are Wilwood) because I believe that to be an issue and they are going to make their recommendations if I choose to stay with the Shelby/PBR's. If I change to a 4 piston, those specs will probably change. Thanks for the great input.
