Not for LA. They were pushed out in a hurry so got their own number set. 6000 cars occurred much later and 4000 cars were still being assigned.

So what is the series number for the "LA" cars then, if not CSX4XXXLA?? I would expect anywhere from CSX4000LA to CSX4999LA if SAI had achieved that production figure. Again the "LA" and "SA" suffixes were being used so they could differentiate those cars from the Las Vegas built cars while still retaining the basic model series number which started with CSX4......
The reason for the "LA" and "SA" manufacturing was because SAI was having trouble supplying cars to people that had placed orders/ deposits and needed to outsource manufacturing to fill orders ASAP.

The LA series cars as mentioned earlier were 6 initially and I think through 8 maybe 9 cars produced for Latin America ie mexico exclusively built by HST.

I would seriously find it hard to believe that SAI would commission a manufacturer in Tijuana to manufacture a run of Cobras for distribution to clients in Mexico exclusively, I'm sorry but there is just not enough demand nor dinero for SAI to consider such an idea.

If the client(s) have the Dinero, I think SAI would be fine with fulfilling their request! Supply and Demand, and of course profit....Econ 101

They even have their own little section in the last published registry.

Oh yes there was. This club of gentlemen had a lot of cars. I was told my owner couldn't drive the manual transmission and bought a paddle shift ferrari. They supposedly were weekly visitors to some big well known (to all but me) race track in Mexico City.

I really like the slab side and if I were to add another cobra replica to the garage I would have to look really hard at Superformance and ERA for a great car at a price point around $75,000 (depending on motor).

How many times do we have to revisit this subject? The Shelby Cobras built in SA are completely different from the Superformance cars. Do a search and you'll find the details.
I get it - you have a strong prejudice against Shelby. Feel however you want but get your facts straight.

HST was an American company with a maquiladora in TJ. One thing they specialized in was CF products.
HST was not commissioned by SAI to strictly manufacture for LA, that is ridiculous. But the few HST made CSX numbers with the LA suffix were, from conversations I've had with an HST exec as well as confirmations from people like Tony (and just confirmed in the Registry), built exclusively for the 'LA' market (the rich Mexican guys).
I think there was a misunderstanding in the previous posts. It read as if CompClassics thought twobjshelbys claimed that HST was a manufacturer strictly for LA.

As I recall their primary business was "armored vehicles" - you know the bullet proof glass and body converted cars like limos and SUVs. I think they did both civilian and police vehicles but it's been so long and their web site is gone.
The Cobra thing was a passion of the owner.

There were a few leftover HST built 4000 Series Cobras that were sold off after HST closed its doors.
