DenBeste Did the engine install in 2013. Dealer sent me the paperwork. Yes, the bumpers are gone if purchased!!!!

You know, unless one of them tells you there's some obvious flaw, which I doubt will happen, you're going to have to fly out there and sit in it and drive it. For that kind of money, it's absolutely mandatory.

I absolutely agree.

Denbeste now owns the Shelby Engine company, so if they did the final build you're good to go.

I think all of the questions about "is it worth the cost of the trip to inspect the vehicle personally" have been answered. The answer is you should be looking at airline tickets. I don't know how long they've had the car but you might want to put a small (refundable) deposit to hold it until you get a chance to look in person.

Hell yes that's mandatory! I probably flew to SFO area 3 times before I bought mine!! These guys will give you the cursory review as best they can, but you need to see it and drive it!

Also, I am assuming this is a 'glass car as I don't see any reference to "alloy body" unless I missed something...

I'm sure there are flaws. The question is whether there's a fatal flaw.

The one thing that would be necessary is to get the car outside in natural light. Warehouse lighting sucks.

I'm no genius but between the price of $130K and the fact that it doesn't look like a Kirkham body to me, I'd say 100% fiberglass.

Yup. Get it in the sun! Look at throttle linkage clearance vs headers and look for spacers in the engine mounts. Also, look at clearance of header coming out of passenger side (bottom). Gee, how do I know this???

Just looking more closely at the photos, the install looks fairly nice, but I'm not sure what's up with the texture of the turkey pan.

I've purchased 3 cars long distance in the past 3 +/- years, where I didn't personally see the car before purchase. No problems whatsoever. But nothing was close to $130,000. I relied on a PPI by a recommended local shop and local car club/forum members inspections.

Sorry, I couldn't do that. I literally stayed in SFO area for a few days and drove the car. Then to hotel room to think about it. Then drove it again before I decided.

The "purchase w/o 1st hand view" is not a process for everyone. I felt "warm and fuzzy" enough with all the people involved in all 3 deals. I also bought my Kirkham w/o seeing it in person too. Of course, I was buying it directly from Dave & Tom Kirkham.

The other item I did not see on this CSX is a SB100/SPCNS exemption sticker. I don't think this car is CA registered. Not that it's a big deal, since I believe this is common with used exotic dealerships.

The only thing I'll add to that is to take it for as long a drive as you're allowed, then park it and watch it for 15 minutes. If it doesn't have a puddle under it after 15 minutes then it gets a pass, considering it's an FE.

I'm guessing it was actually done by Tom Barnard at Speedway Classic Cars in Las Vegas. DenBeste owns the shop. Give Tom a call and ask about it. Tom does great work. He did my car.

As far as I know, you want to inspect paint work under fluorescent light, not in the sun. Any top paint shop uses fluorescent. Natural sun can sometimes show flaws, but it more often washes them out and makes them difficult to see.

The paperwork doesn't really say DenBeste did the installation, only that it's a Carroll Shelby Engine Company engine. Becker should be able to tell you if he was involved in the installation or if he sold purely a roller to his customer. Unfortunately, he's not always responsive. In my opinion, that installation looks cleaner than the Becker installations I've seen before.
