Whats happening at Shelby American??

Is Shelby American falling on hard times???

I called Shelby American today and was informed that they have terminated their vice president of sales Gary Sheckner at the beginning of this month and also AJ Akos, vice president of design and operations/production, is no longer with the company as of last Monday (a week ago last Monday)

No one is publicly talking about it at Shelby, no press releases on Team Shelby etc but if you call Shelby American they will not deny it. I am just wondering what's next for Shelby American because if you don't have Vice President of sales and you don't have a vice President of design and operations/production....... what do you have???

Any others out there have any info.?

I posted this on the Team Shelby forum. Maybe they will have some answers.

%/ Do I get a hint of Bankruptcy coming at Shelby American?

First, they've already been bought out once. A company purchased 75% of Shelby in the late 90's I think. And then the new entity took the company public.

Second, there's nothing wrong with letting a few VP's go. VP's are notoriously useless good-for-nothing's. Seriously, letting go of some personnel isn't always a sign of bad times. Maybe the limited editions aren't selling so well. There seems to be a decent demand for those 2016 Shelby GT350R's.

Lastly, there will always be someone who'll be interested in buying the assets. Maybe someone like Denbeste or Drew Serb or even Kirkham. If not, those folks that own those Shelby replicas should start calling their insurance brokers and increasing the value of those auto policies.

Frankly I'm surprised the Shelby hot rod shop is still solvent. Ford has upped the game with performance and packaging to the extent that additional mods are diminished returns. And that's not even broaching the merits of the FPC. Judging by the stock prices year over year this is not a very progressive company.

Given the chance the Brothers Kirkham would give the Shelby company all the missing business components lacking for years (read:ever) under the old regime. This is of course, JMHO.

Don't get too spun up on the stock price. It's a vanity stock with no reflection on reality. The company is majority family owned and the few shares out there aren't traded as investments. I own some and it's worth more printed and sold framed on eBay.

SAI has spent far too much time trading on its name, resting on its laurels and relying upon its legal team to periodically go out and squeeze a few bucks from someone infringing on Shelby intellectual property. While there are no doubt some very good people there, the organization certainly has the potential to be so much more than it has been.

Perhaps purging a couple of VPs is the shake-up it needed, or perhaps it's in a death spiral that will only end when it's in the hands of someone who can reach in and do something with the untapped potential.

Just my $0.02...

The have too many models...they should concentrate their development and marketing costs on those cars that made the brand.

do they design & manufacture the Shelby badges In-house or is that also outsourced?
