Regarding BaT: You better have your car's presentation in good (perfect) order. That means professional photos, all the maintenance up to date and documented, etc. They will pick a car apart on that site and the best way to silence the "know-it-alls" is to have a well prepared presentation. If you can do that and you have thick skin as well as the ability to be involved in the process and discussions you will stand a chance.

Totally agree. In return, the sellers I've read about have received excellent results, in terms of their final price.
But talk about "suffering the slings and arrows" from the "Intelligentsia."
