CSX4272 on EBay
Any thoughts or info? Looks to be a nice car but hate when old pictures are used for a current ad.

Very nice. Some of the early (and accurate) 4xxx Shelby's have a charm to them.

Looks to be a very nice alloy CSX.
Evan's "authentic" early black Shelby Cobra replica sold for $228,000, allegedly. The sale was offline. 4272 is BLUE but does have those REAL magnesium Halibrands, which look to be in really great shape considering they're 15-20-25-30+ years old. I'll watch, but BaT seems to be the place nowadays to sell these cars, not eBay. |

I belong to a few other forums, one being Porsche, and while the experience isn't perfect (e.g., communication is all by email with BaT, the stupid inane comments from the peanut gallery), almost everyone, both sellers and buyers overall have had very good experiences. |
BaT
I'm sure it's an acronym for something and I'll likely feel silly when you tell me but what is BaT?
Thanks |

One nice thing about BAT is that the auctions are "snipe proof"- every final bid has to stand for 2 minutes before the auction will end; so even if you drop a bid in the final second, it just resets the clock to 2 more minutes.
This is a very nice feature that favors the seller. |
It's moving up but super slow. I don't see it coming anywhere close to the asking price. I agree with Rodknock....not sure eBay is the right place to move a high dollar Cobra. I'd think BAT, Cobra Country, or an reputable auction for a 200k asking price.

Regarding BaT: You better have your car's presentation in good (perfect) order. That means professional photos, all the maintenance up to date and documented, etc. They will pick a car apart on that site and the best way to silence the "know-it-alls" is to have a well prepared presentation. If you can do that and you have thick skin as well as the ability to be involved in the process and discussions you will stand a chance.

No sale. Final bid $148,100.
With the stock market near an all-time high, Spring almost here, I expected higher than $150,000. Geez. If I'm just throwing a number out there, then I thought bidding would stop at $180,000-$185,000. I didn't think the seller had a prayer for the BIN price of $254,500. Black Cobras just seem to get more money. I guess. |

I didn't even bother looking at the bids, but someone with a (1) rating and 0% positive feedback did make a few bids to keep "salting the board." But the reality is that the car's value is more than $148,100. Someone paid $126,000 for a fiberglass CSX replica on BaT not too long ago. |

Which kind of brings me to my conclusion that the saying "It's only worth what someone will pay!" is a bit of a fallacy. NO, "it's NOT worth what some will pay", but rather: it IS worth what someone will accept. |
