That chassis number rings a bell...

RodKnock 05-21-2018 11:59 AM

Nice "restoration."

No, that one is real.

So why is the dash badge attached with incorrect screws and not the correct rivets. I might question the originality/accuracy of the rest of the vehicle.

First of all, that's funny.

Second of all, have you read the "history" of this car?

CSX 4133 05-21-2018 01:36 PM

That part about it having been in a flood?

I'm not a "rivet person," but yes, the car was rebuilt after the flood. Do a search on "snakehunter" or CSX4148 and there's at least one old CC thread of about 10 pages on the car.

RodKnock 05-21-2018 01:49 PM

Here's the old CobraCountry ad refering the Club Cobra thread:

Shelby 427SC Cobra CSX4158, Guardsman Blue, For Sale

CSX 4133 05-21-2018 02:17 PM

Thanks Rodknock for those links, the car has had quite a life.

An oldie but a goodie, wish they had answered my question from 2010

twobjshelbys 05-21-2018 05:15 PM

This car has been discussed here before. It was from a flood in Georgia (?). Search forum topics will find it. Is this the one that had to have sand and rocks blown out of the frame tubes?

Still a great looking car though.

1985 CCX 05-22-2018 09:58 AM

As a footnote.
Car was restored with no expense spared.
Frame treated inside with oil etc
New motor
New Weber’s

Do not know about you but in a good rain or snow the same happens.
To me this is no factor.
After the Cobra 1000 there was similar issues with original cars. That matter??

RodKnock 05-22-2018 10:04 AM

$189,000?

The Cobra Country ad from 2015 listed the asking price as $159,000 and the car sold. With the history of this car (e.g., main tubes were drilled to let the sludge spill out), the full retail price boggles my mind. I'd rather buy a new roller or find another used alloy CSX probably for about the same amount of money.

I've always said that a "branded" car/title was worth about 50% of market and that's about right for me. The flooded car was forklifted, IIRC, and purchased for around $40,000. There's no way, in my mind, that there's $150,000 of rebuild dollars there.

Nothing to see here.

Al these cars are component vehicles.
That said components are all spot on.
Everyone has an opinion. That’s what makes this site great.
Fortunately for the seller these cars do increase in value based on what they are.
A KMS from 10-12 years ago had doubled. Same car no?
The market is limited thus as a numbered car thus in my opinion there is something to see.
Either way it would fit in my garage.

My Kirkham has likely gone up in value in 11 years, but then my car wasn't submerged in a Georgia river during a flood either. And the components that came from Kirkham in 2007 are all intact, but for a couple of items replaced under warranty over the years. I'm sure most of the components on the CSX have been replaced, but for items like the "drilled main tubes." ;)

The car would fit in my garage too, but not for anywhere close to $189,000.

Well, keep track of it, since your heirs will get a step up in basis as soon as you box out of here....:p

Well, I don't think many of us are driving our cars in rain or snow. I'm certainly not.

And comparing driving in "a good rain or snow" to being submerged for days in a river, while the waters receded, is like comparing an education at the University of Phoenix to Stanford University.

"Box out" as in preventing your opponent from rebounding a basketball? :)
