John,
Jenny's car is the car which we donated to Cystic Fibrosis to be raffled of at the Spring Fling. You should come; you will have a great time. There are pictures of Jenny's car in our forum. Jenny is the daughter of David Smith, one of the owners of Factory Five. His daughter has CF and we (all of us here on CC) hope to be able to conquer the diease one day.
As for the blame on the car, don't blame Shelby American. They didn't know the car had problems or they wouldn't have delivered it. Bob would NEVER knowingly deliver a problem to anyone. Bob knows we work hard to make a good product and we don't ask questions when he wants something done differently. I am confident he simply didn't know. Bob has never once even intimated he was trying to deceive you...or anyone else for that matter. He simply wouldn't do it. He has been very careful to let everyone know what is going on. He has even copied me on all of his e-mails to his dealer. He is doing his best to help you.
The fault for the car rests with Kirkham. Well, we didn't know there were any problems either until Shelby called us. We will fix the car and it will be beautiful when we are done. We are a lot better at what we do now than we were 3 years ago. Just think, you will get to save all of that money you would have wasted on a paint job
If you are nice, Turk, Jamo, Pat, and Ron might even let you join our "Bare Naked Ladies" club.
David

Hey David,
I wasn't gonna say anything. Nothing at all.
Not even how great you and your company are, and how trustworthy you-all are and how generous, and what superior quality products you make. Seriously.
But now you did it:

You've put the word "nice" in the same sentence with a list of Gasholes. Now you've gone entirely too far
Had to be said

To All:
As those who know me I do not air my business concerns on any site nor do I attack individuals.
This particular case was being handled through our independent dealer network and our supplier, because we believed it was in the best interest of our customer to do so.
As most of you know, I return phone calls. I received NO phone calls from this person, only two e-mails which I answered Monday morning when I came into the office.
My internet access at home was affected by a storm that came through Southern Nevada Saturday, and I could not get on here (CC) Monday or Tuesday even from SAI. Brent Mills has told you that too.
Again I will say I am not going to flame nor am I going to attempt to explain the entire goings on, if you will, of this issue. It belongs within the confines of the customer, dealer, SAI and Kirkham. As far as I am concerned, it will remain there. If any party chooses to blast an individual - it is on his conscience, not mine.
Thank you - to those who know me, for your support.

I hope my car isn't 3 years old!
It doesn't really matter matter, I'm gonna thrash that puppy. I can hardly wait to see the looks I get when fellow replica owners see it.

Manufacturing process holes
To Shelby, Kirkham etc:
By the trail of misdirections and contradicting signals between vendors as described on the previous emails, regarding CSX 700, looks like you have a lot of holes in your quality control system. As a business owner I can tell you that no customer should be put through such and ordeal. I was looking forward to buying one of Kirkhams or Shelby's but I will tell you, it scares me. I will not go into a contract with vendors with such an unpredictable process such as yours and so many built in inconsistencies of product.
Investment opportunity or not, I'll stick with a more tried and true process just the same thank you very much.
I will have to re-think my choices.

Juanone,
With your relative newness here, I think you might want to hold your conclusions. The Kirkham's are top notch and stand by their product. If you search this site you are very hard pressed to find anything but glowing remarks about the Kirkhams or Bob Marsh at SAI. Why - because they back up their product.
As was already mentioned, it was a 3 year old product and probably one of the first units. I have been "making things" for 20 years now and my experience shows that we are much better with some experience than we were at the beginning.
I doubt there are many owners who back up their product 3 years later.
Regards,
Keith

As an owner of two of the finest vehicles, Superformance #1568 and Shelby American CSX 4308, I can attest to the conscientious dealer support that I've received from the Rosens and their entire team at Dynamic Motorsports in Ross, Ohio and from Bob Marsh, Kris Kinkaid and others at Shelby American. As with any consumer related business, faults do and will occur. Only myopic individuals will base their sole opinion on a few isolated flaws rather than the entire scenario experienced by others. Any questions or concerns that I have ever inquired, have been met with decisive, courteous responses. All of these vehicles have nuances that contribute to their individual personalities. These nuances can become a nuisance especially when we don't understand the history or development of a particular product. The problem only exacerbates when we permit our testosterone to over rule the logic in "asking" rather than "assuming" that we know the logical answer.
Juanone, do your homework well and learn not to bite the hands that can help you later with your acquisition. I know these folks and you've unjustly misjudged them. They will be the first people to volunteer assistance in resolving even the most trivial problem with competitive marques.

Terry,
SAI does NOT operate like Superformance. They require a substantial down payment before the build commences and the remainder as it moves to the final phases of completion. They do not deceive or mislead anyone, it's clearly understood prior to accepting the written contract. Whether it is wrong or right lies only in the eyes of the receiver. I've done BOTH and have been content with BOTH. In my profession I require a surgical deposit BEFORE I schedule a surgery. Why, because when I didn't, patients would take advantage of the situation because it conflicted with their personal schedule at the last minute and not show up, thus throwing our entire schedule off and not respecting other patients or my time. When we imposed the deposit, it immediately ceased. Those that don't like the policy can go to another doctor for their surgery. I respect their time and they will respect mine. Nothing different than SAI or Superformance only a different profession.

You missed my point which was that all of these cars have nuances which you will discover when you order your Superformance. What I've learned from having owned cobras is that many dealers will help you resolve problems even when those problems are with cars other than their own.
I respect your opinion and was only sharing some worthwhile cobra experience.

When you decide to purchase your Superformance, drop me a line. Their areas are territorial and since you reside in Kentucky, Dynamic in Ross will probably handle your order. There are several options that you may want to consider when placing your order. If you have a chance to attend the DV Spring Fling in London, Ohio, the last week in June, you'll be able to examine over 200+ cobras and talk with the owners. Virtually every configuration of engine, color and options will be represented. You won't be disappointed and you'll make some of the best friends you've ever encountered.
My new completed SPF will be in Ross this Tuesday. It's Laser Red with Dust Gold Stripes fitted with a stroked 418 which develops 510 hp with 520 ft.lbs. of torque. You're welcome to check it out. I plan to pick it up sometime during the week weather permitting.

I visited with them this weekend and had a blast. Rode on a couple of their demos. I am interested in a steel gray with silver stripes or a sunset red with titanium stripes. I may have to drop in on Tuesday to see your combination of colors. It sounds interesting. I do agree with you that Dynamic has an incredible customer service attitude. They are truly special.

Dan,
I fully understand "Deposit." But every contract is up to negotiation. The dealer was a third party it seems in this case, and should have funded any progress payments to the manufacturer beyond the deposit. Haven't you ever heard these guys say "I want to earn your business" ? Hell, let the Dealer EARN his comission.
I'm sure you don't get payment in full for any surgery BEFORE you do it, and in many cases have to wait for final payment from the insurance company. I know I never got payment in full for a set of architectual plans before they were completed, or for that matter, started. And, I sure as hell had to pay for all my consultants fees before I ever received the final payment. We are professional people who understand contracts, and making a deal work even if we have to modify the contract in some ways. csx7oo? implies he paid all the money up front; so, I stand by my statement that he fell off the vegetable truck.
On another note; a CSX, a SFP, a 930, what else you got in the stable. Me thinks you, the Toy Collector, and myself (all that I know of so far) need to see a Dr. (the Shrink kind). Maybe we can work out a contract for a group rate.
See you at VIR? Next question: CSX or SPF?

I need to go back to business school. I'll build you a $200k house with only a $1k deposit. In 5 years and coming up on 300 homes, I've only kept a few deposits and haven't been stuck with a house yet.

So far SAI has been "stand up" in straightening out some issues with the car created by the original dealer.
They stood behind the car and the problems and got them straightened out.
