TK,
The oil cooler and fans are standard on the CSX4000.
Bandit 1,
The differences listed above are between the CSX4000 cars we have been producing for the past 6 1/2 years and the new units we are offering at $39,995. We upgraded to Baer Racing Brakes back in 2000 to improve performance and repeatability.

Why should i buy a SA CSX ? and not another Superformance?
Hello Brent..
As an owner of a Superformance MKIII , How can you convince me to purchase one of the new SA CAV built CSX's and not another Superformance? I am looking at getting a second Cobra and for almost the same money i could another SPF or a SA CSX.Why should i go with you?
I'm not wanting to add to add of the heat on SPF's and FFR's and kit's and CSX's and whether or not it's a "Real" one or not .I'm just a Cobra enthousiast that happens to own a Superformance.I'm very proud to own a SPF as any Cobra owner would and should be , no matter the manufacturer.
But , on with my question. Why should i get one of yours ?

As stated earlier, this thread was an announcement of the new product by SAI and a good focal point for specific questions about the new model and it's configuration.
I'm going to suggest that topics relating to the actual purchase, financial dealings and personal sales issues be taken up off line with the dealer network or Bob Marsh at the factory.
Thanks

I am suprised to see everyone is so defensive about their cars, and eager to attack others,I am tired of better than this or worse than that,I am sure I buy what I have because I can afford it,and I like it,other wise I would be driving an original CSX2000/3000 car, just like the rest of us who have replicas, thats one thing I like about the biker bunch I cater to,EVERYONE likes harleys,EVERYONE likes hot girls, and NO ONE has anything to prove, thus everyone gets along,,Tk

Since someone has put a deposit down, you would think that Shelby could use about 1/2 percent of that deposit and buy a digital camera. Seems to be a lot of mystery about the car, the factory and God knows, the money. Especially in light of the negitive financial press this year. A lot of issues could be put to rest if car and factory photos surfaced. I thought about the "new" SA SAI cars and decided to wait and see. I would be pissed if a Backdraft showed up after "I paid my money and took my chances".

I know where your coming from Lee,,I had the same concerns, but for the time being feel good about it,A digi cam wouldnt help at this point since there is not yet a finished car,but one will be in LV by next month I am told,it always seemed weird to me that the current sales flyers use some original cars instead of current production,{case in point Lynn Parks Blue FIA#16},but they are all fine.
I also learned the financial issues had nothing to do with SAI itself, but the governing company under which it operated.
It could go sour, but the dealers and SAI sure seem passionate about it,my thinking is for the first few cars all eyes will be on quality, and by getting in early I save a few thousand, and maybe have time to sell my car for a decent price,I will keep everyone posted, but after some research I see no reason to think the car will be any less than the current car, maybe better.I am curious to see one thing though, the swing in resale value from pre csx 4750 versus post 4750 cars. Where do I send this digital camera. Just give me the address of this factory in South Africa. I'll overnight it free. I have no problem risking $50 on faith. Now misfit says there is no car completed, and one may be at LV next month. So I'll get back pictures of an almost completed car, with the other 74 in build. I'm ready to send the camera.
Mr. Brent answer the questions posed and shut these guys up. They might get off their money and buy a car. What have you got to loose? As I said, give me the address and the camera will be there overnight.
Computerguy, Ron. This is a manufacturers area/forum. What is wrong with asking them questions and expecting an answer, HERE and not off line? I'm new and don't understand your prior statments.

No problem with questions for the manufacturer about the product... you are correct...this is their Forum.
My post was to suggest that sales issues relating to an individual's purchase are best done off-line, directly with a representative of the company... a suggestion to keep the posts here on-topic.
Engaging in debates about the marketplace, for example, should be done on another thread.
Welcome and enjoy the forum.

I am going to wait and see,I can understand CS prefers the car to be judged on the merit of the finished product, not useless pictures of real estate,I can't say 100% how this will come out,but I can say that no one has any reason to think anything is wrong with this deal,I dont understand all the hoopla,it 's not like I am sending money to some SA rebels,My check was made out to SAI,as far as I know in 40 years Carroll Shelby has always made things happen, winners get things done, losers talk about them,so,my dough is on the man in the white hat,Tk

??
The beginning run of 4000's in glass were the groundwork cars. Lets face it, the glass was laid by jailbirds. Frames were welded by life sentence recruits and it was pretty much fielded by the genius of Tom D' Antonio and less than a handfull of qualified others. With all the gliches and set backs, cars got done and traded on the secondary market for great numbers. Why? No matter what, it was a Shelby product. Lets face it, the English at A/C didn't have the corner on the market for fine automobiles with their inferior wiring and snap on tops that one would get drenched before figuring out how to place. Remember when Lucas made Vaccume Cleaners because, it was the only thing they made that didn't suck? Why do you think Kirkham went to Poland and the English still can't re-produce their original cars at a marketable price? Ford took a hold of Aston Martin in order to make a hand made ALUMINUM Super car for $150,000. Why is this primative aluminum shell that we all love about that from England and does not have half the technology?
The South Africa deal groundwork and routine has already been
somewhat de-bugged by Las Vegas. I believe it will prove to be just fine either from chassis #1 or shortly after that. Shelby American can certainly troubleshoot and G.C. the work.
My bet is on Shelby.

All,
I am sorry for the delay in getting a posting out, we have been in the process of moving the entire Cobra operation into the new facility and I have not had much spare time.
Let me start by saying that I will do my best to answer questions pertaining to the import Cobra vehicles, however I am not here to defend SAI or Carroll Shelby because the record speaks for itself. Over the course of the last 6 1/2 years we have taken orders and deposits on aprox 410 Cobra component vehicles and to this date have not left anyone standing out in the cold without the product they contracted for. This is not to say that we have not run into issues that had to be worked through on some occassions but we have never screwed any customer out of their deposit.
CSX4750 which is slated as the sample vehicle has left the manufacturing plant and is on it's way to the airport to be transported to the Las Vegas facility. This is actually the second vehicle to be completed at the South African facility, the first being the mule that was used for development and testing purposes and slated to remain in SA indefinately.
As far as pictures of the completed vehicles, work in process and the assembly facility we do prefer for the product to speak for itself after it's arrival on the 15th. We have plenty of orders in process and do not feel we need to push for more contracts and deposits through the use of media that would most likely lead to other unjust alligations.
We are producing CSX4000 component vehicles in South Africa through a joint venture with a reputable partner. Neither I nor Carroll Shelby have any reason what-so-ever to believe this venture will be anything less than a long and fruitful relationship that will benefit SAI as well as Cobra lovers world wide.

Gary,
Those halo lights ARE available in different colors through many sources. I don't believe it would look good under a Shelby Cobra.
What kind do you have?
I believe the photo is a artistic rendition of one photographer. It does look cute (ONLY IN A PHOTO), but I wouldn't do it if I were you.
I have never seen a CSX car with those light.Have you?
TURK
Blue looks great under my Porsche.

I was just kidding Turk, though they might be a great incentive to buy the 39.9k roller sight unseen!I think I would insist on green however, now that I think about it.I could then travel stealthily under them big rigs.

Brent,
Thank you, this is very valuable information for me since I have already mailed my deposit in and have a number assigned to me CSX4766 is expect to arrive December 15th.
Because this program was recently put together I have recieveda great deal of conflicting information on how the Cobra Roller would arrive. I ordered red, and I am not even sure what color red it will be! Spoke withBob Marsh. He told me that these cars would be set up for 427/428 motors with Top loaders ONLY. I was told at Monterey that the wheels would be Trigos/ Tires ? Please let me know, because I wanted Goodyears and my dealer said it would be 1000.00 more!!! I am somewhat new to this web site, but I should be a regular member moving forward. I wellcome everyones input on building my Shelby, hoping to learn from everyone elses mistakes.

Did Unique down in Alabama do any of the bodies for the new Shelby South African cars? Someone told me that the other day but I don't know if he was referring to the 289 bodies or what...
Any news or info regarding this???
