Shelby pricing
The latest kit car magazine had two Shelby Cobra advertisements in it. One advertisement had the new Cav produced CSX car at $39,995 and the second advertisement at $42,500. I was a little confused, Are these the same cars? Also, now that Cav is producing the CSX cars, is the Las Vegas facility still gong to produce cars?

Its my understanding that the cars original proce of 39995 has already been increased to $42,500....They are still producing the aluminum cars in Vegas just not the fiberglass.

The aluminum body & frame is produced by Kirkam and added to and sold w/CSX # in Vegas. Hell thats worth an extra 35K! Yeah right!

It IS worth it if you want an alloy body. Both the CAV and the alloy come with a CSX number all ready., so that's not an issue.
Actually, I'm not sure $35K more is accurate though, could be less depending on options.

I was refering to the fact that you can build an aluminum alloy body Kirkham with an extremely healthy Shelby aluminum block engine with all the goodies for around 85k to 90k, or you can have the same body and frame with a 450hp aluminum Shelby engine and toploader with the CSX# for 125k. With my meager math skills that comes out to 35k plus, but you do get a number. As I said, yeah right! I'll save the 35k towards a GT40

Price
Paul Andrews the Shelby Dealer in NJ is still advertising the $39,999.00 but everybody else is quoting the 42. Paul buys and sells cars and I would think he has some rollers ordered for inventory.

The $39-42k cars are the glass bodied cars being built in South Africa by CAV. They are very nice copies of an ERA or Contemporary done with Carroll's blessing. If what you want is to say "yes" whan someone asks you if it is "real" this might be your car.
You will still need to drop 20-30k in a side oiler and a few grand in accessories, another 2k for a toploader or a 5 or 6 speed to get it on the road. Not a bad car for $75k complete in "original" trim.
I will point out the car Turk built, CSX-4148 is still available on e-bay for 124k. if you use buy it now.
I can still hear Carroll screaming about "counterfit" cars in my head when I see these ads. The irony in this is really pretty cool.
