CSX 4000 as a Street 427
Does anybody know of, or have images of a CSX 4000 configured as a 427 Street version (without the cutouts for sidepipes)?
I have talked with two Shelby dealers and they both tell me it is possible to order a CSX 4000 configured as a 427 street version, but to be honest, do not think I have ever seen one that I can remember. Can't believe that I am the first person to want a CSX4000 without the side exhausts.
As always, appreciate the help.

I suspect you are spot on.
Still wondering though, if it is possible to get a CSX 4000 configured as a Street 427, why I have not seen one (at least do not think I have seen one) in the many shows/gatherings I've attended.
Thanks for the response.

I suspect it would look a lot like a Kirkham street 427.

Man, that's a nice looking car. I wonder who owns it?

CSX4XXX street?
Can be done for the most part very easily. It would require some glass or aluminum work on the rear fender lip since the street version was not S/C like and new cont CSX cars are S/C in style.
If you were to correct the rear fenders like the KMS shown (note: dash and steering wheel used on this car are not accurate for street model), add heat, undercar exhaust, no hood scoop, street dash, correct wheels, no roll bar, leather seats and doorpockets (S/C were naugahyde), glove box, bumpers, dual quad FE, street gas cap, and a few other details it could be very accurate in appearance.
ERA site does distinguise many of the differences. A street CSX4XXX would be original, in thought, since 99% of folks are after the S/C.
Great idea - go for it!
Jeff

Bob you haven't seen one because there are few people cultured and discriminating enough to appreciate the beauty of the 427 Cobra lines without all the 'doo-dads' and racer accoutrements. It takes a man with a high level of refinement and class to avoid the herd mentality of the S/C version...Oh and you have to not give a crap about getting your head ground off if you flip it.
Man, that's a nice looking car. I wonder who owns it?
Hmmm, I wonder.....

Point taken on both counts...and really do like the lines of the car without the external pipes. Likely that I would add a rollbar as you are correct regarding the head suggestion.
Also, thinking about future rides with "she who must be obeyed" as my passenger and the fallout that would occur should she rub her leg against those very warm pipes...think I've seen it referred to here as "snakebite". She likes my M5, is ok with my TR6, but if she burned her leg on a side pipe, Bob would likely be in deep doo-doo.
Sometimes in pursuit of a dream, certain sacrifices must be made... ;-)

CSX4104 is close...but it still has the Comp fuel filler and hood scoop.

Thanks for the image as this is the first shot I've seen of a CSX without the cutouts. Was told that I could get the hood-scoop deleted if I wanted.

Miracopa, nice looking car and you have the exhaust configured similarly to what I would be looking to do.
On another note, noticed that you are into guitars. Just bought a 12-string Breedlove for son's graduation (he is a very accomplished musician in Dad's humble opinion). Beautiful instrument, kind of like a Cobra in its own right me thinks...

Gas cap is a Ceandess off a Norton motorcyle, also available from Europa. I'm replicating 3167 which is a street car. If I ever need a roll bar on a car with a centre of gravity like this?????? Jeff has done a pretty good punchlist for you. I have a lot of undercar exhaust shots and details if you're in need. I love the street car look on the correct body as you can see the rockers curve nicely in both directions! If you stumble across the body cutouts for sidepipes I need some to fill my holes LOL.

Bob,
I believe you were leaning towards ordering a Kirkham (based on previous posts). Are you now considering a CSX 4000 car?
To which dealers are you talking?

Body lines!
I like the look of the Cobra with under car exhaust. I was going to change that at first.
But I like the sound of the pipes, so I painted mine the same as color as the body. The pipes aren't as noticable and the body lines show up a little better.
I suppose painting the roll bar the same color would have somewhat the same effect.

Thanks Bob. It's a fun little ride for about 1/4th the price of a CSX....Not that I wouldn't buy one if I had the scratch of course!
That's a nice box you bought your boy! I've been palying about 12 years and building them almost that long. Lots of fun.
