Sal,
I too am planning to relocate the battery this winter. I plan to use a custom tray using angle steel to fit the batteries I opt for. I saw the G35 post by rokndad and found them nice however it sounds like they require fluid fill (electrolyte) and they only carry 500cca. I am considering the use of Optima 6V @ 800cca since they are totally sealed and less prone to outgas. I worry the acidic gasses will damage my seats which I want to avoid.
The Rebat label would be really cool. Count me in for one...... The Optimas are round so I plan to fashion an aluminum face/ends and paint it flat black. That should give the appearance of a box/correct shape. The tops will be wrong but a reasonable vintage look should result regardless.

Well, wouldn't a 65 period battery be getting into what would have been put into comp cars? I don't think I have any vintage photos that show either one or the other. Do you? I know this topic has come up in the past, and I don't think anyone has shown a picture of an original S/C battery. If there are pics, then people are not showing them for whatever reason. If there aren't, then it's back to just deciding which Cobra "brain trust" person's info you want to use.
I'd love to see the right picture. You know I don't like doing things the wrong way.

Actually, the G-35s are only about 300 cca. But two together would give 600cca, which is more than enough for most motors. Hell, I currently run ONE of those batteries and it has no problem turning my car over.

Those black batteries would not be correct anyway because they don't have the "Orange" caps
Sunshine and Byots need to enter this discussion
Ron I went on a run and figured out how to do the rope thing but I ain't saying how to do it untill I test it on my batteries.

Legate, Fridman or Computerworks are the only ones who would have that picture!
My wing nugs look right too! Now just the rope idea when I get my car back from Long Island!

I was poking.
The black/orange caps have been around almost as long...
...but I think it was when Rebat "begat" Concorde Batteries, and not back in the 60's
As a replacement part, I would see either scheme as correct.

Sal & Morgan,
Where did you get the battery cables? Are they premade or does this require fabrication?

Yes, They had given me some black welding cable to use however I went with #1 gauge cable which I purchased and made up myself.
