It's all about the sticker price!! They always go crazy with the pricing on these limited edition "production" cars, hence keeping them out of reach of most of us....well at least me. Nice car though.

Quoting from the new Shelby Magazine in an article about the Super Snake: "When combined with the MSRP of a GT500, this upgrade is far less expensive than the price of any other car with even close to the Super Snake's power." They go on to state that Super Snake packages are available for $27,995.00 from Shelby Auto and Shelby Performance Parts. -But I'm sure that is the "starting price" for Super Snake packages (600hp) and that the 725hp package is a bit more.

So it looks like it's gonna cost you about 28K above what you paid for your GT500 (which probably wasn't MSRP), if you already own one. -Don't think that's for the 725hp package though.
The question is, can you order a Super Snake right from your Ford dealership, and if so, what will THEY add to the price? And, are you willing to pay that price for a car with no warranty (in the 725hp version)??

...ahem...errrr...

Those prices are upcharges for the SS package...over and above what you have to pay the dealer for your 'new' GT500 car first.

Let's see, $50,000 for the Shelby, then $28,000 for the 600 hp level upgrade. Um, that's $78,000 and 600 hp, which is exactly what the 2008 Viper is. Or you could get a Z06 for $67,000 and for far less than $12,000, have it over 600 hp.
And no, you can't order it from your dealer. According to the Team Shelby forum, over half of the Super Snakes are already bought and they're going fast. You order them through Shelby. The current estimate for completion is 18 months.

All that money to drop 0-60 times by 0.4 seconds.

No thanks. I'll meet you at the next stop light. If I am driving my Cobra, I guess a Super snake would be meeting me though.

Why wouldn't they put that package onto a regular GT?

Regular GT Mustang doesn't have the 5.4 mod motor or come with a supercharger like the 500. Shelby is charging for some carbon due dads and a different supercharger, hood, and stripes.

that is 900 pound to overweight. With the 500hp it couldn't even compete with the regular c6 vette with 400hp. I'll pass until its gets weight reduction

Good points.
I think these cars are going to be mainly for collectors. Who knows how many we will even see on the streets.
I would bet that a stock Viper and stock ZO6 would spank the Super Snake (even in 700hp form) in most categories - especially on a road course. The Mustangs are simply too heavy. And just think what kind of car you would have (in power & performance) if you put $12,000-$15,000 dollars into a ZO6. -Talk about "king of the road".

And what's the deal with the 18 month wait??? Plus, if that's calculated in "Shelby time", that may be more like 2 years! Seems like an awfully long time to wait for the amount of work they're doing to the car.

Isn't the stock Shelby Mustang for 08 already 540hp? $28,000 more for 60hp??? Hell, just put an aftermarket pully and Predator tune on it and it will be over 600hp for about $500.

600 hp and still no irs, but you can get irs in an exploder, sport trac, or expedition and they all weigh about the same as a GT 500
