I believe ERA is one of the best out there......Looked at them in detail for years. I love my CSX both on and off the track. And it is my bad for never addressing my technical issues with LV ( Roger ). Perhaps that relationship will be made some day.....I am now off the manual subject......Thanks for your inputs.

700 and 500, ProShock or Afco (not that it matters you just need a rate and dimensions), AH 100,3000, BAER-4301013, Mocal (again it doesn't matter you just need dimensions for a replacement). This is fun maybe we should just keep going and write our manual online here ;-)

Now THAT'S a great idea!

If CSX owners could chime in with what they have, then a running timeline of parts could be made. There's been a lot of suppliers and not a lot of consistency so I guess the manual was probably a pretty daunting task. Either that or they don't care (I can deal with that, too). Certainly wouldn't keep me from buying a CSX.

Kirkham didn't finish theirs either but better yet, a family member will pick up the phone. If they don't call back in 2 minutes it's because their doing something to improve their cars. They call back soon.

Patrickt, did you choose an ERA over any other due to the manual? It's funny because all the stuff you share on here (and lots of it is good, not all, though ), is stuff you learned and shared. That could be done with the CSX crowd, too.

Community manual!

(If only ERA didn't have a manual, Patrick could have written it. But then he may not have purchased an ERA. If only he bought a CSX! )

Thanks Mickmate for your technical input. I have brake pad info.......front 2000 Mustang Cobra ( not R ), rears 1995 Camaro. I have cross referenced these to Hawk P/N. You probable know that already....... British experts tell me that the best wiper stuff comes from 1969-76 TR6, GT6, Spitfires. I would like to know if anyone uses 700#/ inch front springs on a mostly street driver? Can see 500. Sounds more like a track biased number. I believe we are on to something here gents. Their are knowledge bases that should be concentrated in a technical thread. Lead On Mickmate.

To answer you, in absolute honesty, my choice came down to almost a coin flip between ERA and Kirkham. Money was not an issue. I viewed both cars as being so well built (a factory built ERA car, that is) that it really was just an academic question as to which one was better in that regard. I knew I was going to paint my car, so the aluminum body was of no compelling interest to me. What tipped it in ERA's favor was the fact that they were on the east coast, the fact that they would do literally anything I asked them to do and, yes, their manual, which I had had for quite some time and had studied like a text book. The manual really did make a difference. That is the absolute 100% truth.

Default I have a manual...

Mickmate hooked me up with a reprint of the original! A Cobra (mine at least) is the simplest car I've ever owned. I didn't need a manual to put it together. The only parts that didn't come with it were the engine, tranny, batteries and associated stuff. And there is plenty of info out there on those if you need it.

As a CSX owner, I'd be more interested in documentation of the components and differences between that various CSX cars produced. I have looked some of the newer ones over at car shows and open track events, and I can tell you that mine differs greatly in the suspension, brakes, wiring, etc., from the later cars. I'd like to see a much more detailed questionaire for SAAC's Registry. When I filled mine out, it only asked general questions and what factory options it has. I'd like to see it broken out into much more detail to document the running changes that were/are being made.

I suppose that's because these cars are only grudgingly included in the Registry, as they are kind of the bastard child of the SAAC world. But some day I think we will regret not documenting them more closely, when everyone who built and sold them is no longer around to ask.

Anyhow, for someone to create a CSX manual, whatever that would be, they would have to include a ton of running detail and component changes. Not a simple task with a static product, and a monumental one with all the changes in components, production facilities, etc., that have occurred.

It would be nice to poll the guys here that have had their hands into it and get a parts list alongside some CSX numbers. Some good info and some chronology would be great. I've observed a difference or two between LV, HST, and HT cars.
Info like that would be pretty darn handy for all kinds of reasons.
Pat has done his due diligence and kept good records on a lot of different breeds. He could do a manual on a couple of them. I'm gonna stop right here before anyone thinks we have a mutual admiration thing going on!!!!

That is a repro of the 60's manual. It is a neat piece that is very similar to your car but is more for nostalgia and shows than a real reference. I have a special version available for the guys with 60's cars.

If the "Cobra Owners Forum" was archived, that would be an awesome resource to tap into. Myself as well as many others put a lot of valuable information into that site. We actually discussed a shop manual and was in the process of organizing the reference material when the forum dissappeard. Great place to start if Shelby gives it up...........
