Smile Rented a Hertz Shelby GT

Hertz has done it again!
I flew into LAX last Sat. for my grandson's 1st birthday and had reserved a el-cheapo car for the weekend from Hertz. When we were approaching the rental facility, the driver announced that they now had Shelby's for rent. I asked the agent how much to upgrade for the convertible, and for a cost of $100 more for the weekend I was off cruising up the 405. Black with gold stripes, just like the '66 you could rent back then. Not nearly as quick as my Cobra, but a blast to drive just the same. They go thru a big deal of checking you out and in, guess they learned from the replaced engines back in the '60s
If you get a chance, I highly recommend for good time.
Thanks, Shelby Automobiles for doing it again.

That is pretty cool! I doubt that any will be making the tracks like the originals did, but it is still neat!

I also rented a Shelby coupe for a run from Las Vegas to Needles,CA through the desert. I had the car up to 145mph very quickly and it was still pulling. It was also a blast to drive with the traction control off. They could have made the interior a bit nicer but the drivetrain is first rate.

Rented the coupe down in Florida a year or so ago. It was fun to drive. But you are right, not as much fun as cruising in the Cobra, but fun none the less.

Did you say that you rented the convertible? How was it? Did you take any photographs?

Welcome, from Carroll Shelby

Have you noticed that it's tough finding quality performance parts to build a reliable FE engine? I have and I decided to do something about it by introducing my own line of Shelby FE™ performance parts. I worked with my design staff to build the best, because my name is on them. My racing legacy with FE performance engines extends back to my race winning 427 Cobras and GT-40 Mk.IV racers that won LeMans. Three decades later, my newer Shelby FE™ parts utilize proven design refinement to create FE performance parts for the new millennium.

My catalog illustrates an overall selection of parts available, but we can supply complete engines or parts from oil pan to carburetor to build your own Shelby 427 FE™ aluminum or cast iron engine just the way you want it. Call and speak directly to our engine department with your tech questions and orders. You have my name on it.
