Wasn't a hack against you. Sorry if it sounded that way. Like I said, it's a nice video. The car sounds great! I'd love to have that car & that property!!!

Nice car for sure. Not sure that guy really knows what's he's talking about though. Think he just memorizes a few features. The "serious carburetors" quote is pretty silly.

The "serious carburetors" quote is for him.
Webbers would probably be "serious carburetors" for a lot of us and even then, it is more a matter of person impression.
Like the property.

"That Guy" is a very well known & accomplished racer in europe(even though his name will not escape from the foggy spaces of my brain)
He was on a sat morning show for a while where he drove & described the most exotic cars you could imagine.
A dream job most of us could only wish for.
I loved the way my speakers vibrated while watching the video. Spectacular car & great video.
Ralphy--Thanks for the post

I was more reacting to the fact that it looked like there was a single 4bbl under the hood, not "carburetors" as the guy in the video said. Just seemed like a pretty silly and obvious detail to get wrong on a car show, that's all. I guess that stuff just bugs me more than others.
Generally I agree that lots of carb set-ups can be "serious" and its just personal opinion.
Overall though it was a nice video and nice piece of property.

His name is Alain de Cadenet; the series was called Victory by Design; you can buy the 30 minute or so video (or save yourself the money and search for other bits and pieces on Youtube and elsewhere)...

Hyde,
No problem, I kinda baited people on purpose. Alain de Cadenet makes another error at the end. Saying it's all the power you need!

Alain de Cadenet is an interesting fellow. Among some he is considered a walking encyclopedia of foreign cars, mostly foreign. He certainly does make mistakes from time to time, especially as it applies to American cars, but all in all, he's a good guy and does some excellent work.
This little blurb about the carb(s) is nothing compared to the time he stuck his foot in his mouth identifying a Chrysler WEDGE engine as the famous "Hemi". Now THAT was almost unforgivable, but it was after all American muscle, not his best area of expertise.

I think he was making a sarcastic comment about how rich the car was running. Even on a computer with limited sound and no way to smell the unburned fuel, you could tell that thing was FAT.

Alain is also an aircraft enthusiast. He comes across as being pretty unflappable, but this video shows him losing ALL of his composure! CAUTION..Language!

I've seen Alain de Cadenet from the series Victory by Design, also on the Barrett Jackson auto auction...I agree he's not real good with American Iron....He might the colllector type......the type that never changed a spark plug...he seems more like the guy in the back of the rolls royce asking for the Grey Poupon.

I'd venture to say if you've ever tried to do anything in front of the camera and haven't screwed up your lines......you're a better man than most of us. When you combine our mortal frailities, with whatever the film editor and producer dreams up (after the fact)then you're real lucky if a car show doesn't end looking like a sponge bob cartoon. Alain de Cadenet is really a pretty savvy guy with more "seat" time than most of us could even dream of. Maybe he was refering to four venturis being multiple carbs??? The steering wheel was on the wrong side also.

Not many cab drivers competed at LeMans multiple times in cars of their own construction, including a podium finish.
If you watch the entire program, you will note that there is also a small block Cobra with Webbers in the segment. He might have been referring to that car in the carburetor comment.

Wow, I didn't know this would stir such interest. My thought was how unique the Brits are with the English language. As a child I learned to dislike them, studying American History. Now I just love their use of the language. A friend of mine which majored in English and from Manchester. Could verbally beat you to a pulp with no profanity or raising his voice. Just awes me. In the video he also says chassis, pronouncing the s at the end. when here we drop it.
