Congratulations Wafflehead.
For those that don't know Norbert, he's from Belguim. Not a Cobra owner, but he is a first class gear head. Have known him for years and an all around great guy.

well thank you Sir John.... maybe i'm not a noob on cars but sure you are not ! yes, we know eachother for years now and only repect growded ! dreamed to buy a Cobra but with our Belgium tech inspection you just don't know every year where you stand with surprizes ! i'm to old for that stress .... so opted for a car with a PGV number in our country.... ( once officialy imported... ) and... yes, in Belgium a roof is not a dead weight ! rain we know every 2 days....
after all... it is Ford powered

thanks for cheers and at our Monkey here :
i know i'm ugly but at least i'm still young .....
agree... it's a Holley "dog bone" filter... BUT... it's low profile and keeps that way "some" rear view which is already very limited....here on a Edelbrock carb... owell, will see what i wanne change..... sure not "rush" anything ... gonne first enjoy it as is and drive it !

oh.. and not that it will be unique but the first owner was nobody less then Caroll Shelby himself ! Buildyear '85 , he registrated the car 01/01/86 and sold it on 07/01/86 ... after 286 miles together with 2 other Pantera's.
Documents mention even another 2 Panteras which were not yet in the US at that time... so.. i have no proof.. but Shelby "could" have been behind the wheel

Pretty car! We bought a yellow '72 Pantera the week after we sold CSX 3121 (September 1975). I don't know how your much later car was set up. but those sold in the U.S. exhibited nothing but understeer, to the point that if driven aggressively, the front tires would be gone in under 5k miles.
There's a pic in my gallery of my then 20-something wife standing next to the car.
In an attempt to replicate the Cobra's performance, I upgraded the engine to Boss 351 specs and added headers, but it never offered the same intoxicating rush.

Congratulations belgiumbarry. Great looking Pantera!
Toured the factory in 1986 when they were still building them. Always wanted one.
Bonus that this was Mr Shelby's ride.
Enjoy it.

Nice videos Norbert.
You need to go to the lounge and post the build pictures of your 928. You did some beautiful work on that car, and these guys love cars, not just Cobras.

from garage-queen to cafe-racer
inspection and.....wrenching :
- tires are "new" but from 2000... so 11 year old rubber ( Yokohama ) which i don't trust to be driving with some spirit
so i bought new ones : Michelin TB15 ( semi slicks racing , street legal )
- 3 of the 4 coilover shocks are "gone"....matching numbers ! from '85.... ...was a search , Koni doesn't make the originals anymore , so looking for custom made : here we have KW and Intrax, both making coilovers and shocks for race cars and streetcars upgrades....KW has Pantera applications but delivery time 5 weeks ! that's waiting half our summer .... Intrax ( the most expensive ofcourse ) can build them in a week.... so hope to get the car back on wheels end this week. The schoks have no less then 40 steps regulating damping in & rebound... even a thermostat to keep things equal cold and warm....
- those installed, on the scales for weight check and a alignement
- new plugs Autolite 25 ... must check timing this week and play a little with the carb screws ....
- new gas shocks on the hood ... now there's a aluminium tube to keep it open...
-had the alternator rebuild and new batterie ( acid free as those are eating carpet in the front trunk )
- new fog lights , Carello , the originals .... with the white covers
- changed handbrake lever as this was by almost 1/2 a inch the determing factor ground clearence ! Belgian inspection demands 9 cm....
- Europe style "bumperettes" instead of the HUGE US rear bumper... and cut/turned /welded the exhausts to be pointing again upwards as Panteras do... now the tips were horizontal , think to match better with the big bumper... ( the even bigger rubber nose bumper was already replaced Euro style by the Belgian collector)
that will do it for the moment ... next plan for winter is the gas factory : now there's a Edelbrock carb which i found to "blinky" on that Cleveland
Toughts are either 4 Webers IDA48's , which i already have new from a Porsche 928 build ... but redone to FI...or... as my friend Silverback suggested : 8 stack FI....easyer to tune and performing the best ???? trouble free ??? i want it to be a real driver , not a garage queen .....

Do any of the five Panteras have Chrysler engines?
I remember back when Shelby was at Chrysler hearing something
about importing five Panteras at least three of which were fitted with Chrysler V8s, but I guess they didn't have the desired performance for Chrysler to start importing Panteras. Or maybe Lee Iacocca wanted Lamborghini more.
