Number Quiz
2, 4, 1, 1.
Pretty easy, actually. No hints, no clues. Winner receives an Echidna T-Shirt.

Heading in the right direction. Next clue: "winning years".

This is just a guess, so nobody laugh. But when I saw the numbers, my first thought was what place the cars finished in 4 consecutive years. I'm guessing 1965-1968.

I BELIEVE THAT THE GT-40'S FINISHED IN FIRST PLACE IN 1966,67,68 & 69 AT LE MANS.
IT COULDN'T BE THE "PLACEMENT" BECAUSE I THINK THEY FINISHED 1ST, 2ND, & 3RD PLACE IN 1966.
WELL, IV'E PLAYED WITH THE NUMBERS FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES NOW AND DRAW A COMPLETE "BLANK". (NOT PARTICULARLY UNCOMMON AT MY AGE).
I GIVE UP!!!
Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY,
BLACKJACK

Okay here's my stab at it: The variants of the winning cars of each year the GT40 won? I.e., 2,4,1,1 = Mk II, Mk IV, Mk I, Mk I...

Snakeeyes has hit it on the head. His correct answer is due, in part, to running those Tobacco settlement numbers through his calculator every hour on the hour. I was afraid that if I used the Roman Numerals to designate the cars, the puzzle would have been solved too quickly.
Good job and an Echidna T-Shirt will be arriving shortly.

Thanks, Cal. I was going to keep it to myself, but you know, there was a t-shirt at stake and all...since I don't have the good fortune to be able to walk out to the garage and see an original Echidna, I'll make do with a t-shirt--it will keep me warm as I stand on the street corner holding up a "Will work for Echidna" sign
