I think that would be a pretty safe bet if the "CSX3159" in the url is any indication.

Here's a small blurb about the car at a toy car web site:

Smile I Believe You Are Correct

If these toy people know what they are talking about, then it definately is a 427.

Cool

Excellent picture Rich, i,ve never seen a picture of that original Dragonsnake before. I bought a plastic 1/24 kit of that car a while ago , it has very good detail on it.
I also bought a diecast 1/18 model of a Dragonsnake in gold colured paint, it has motion performance on the side. Not sure if this one ever existed. This model is made by Ertl.

I know the model your on about, as Ive seen it forsale at a few toy and model fairs

If you buy this model, you could add your own chassis No and call it a "Continuation Dragonsnake Cobra"...

You guys in the States are very lucky to have seen the Dragonsnake Cobra`s in the flesh

CSX3159 was not an original Dragonsnake... I was sold as a plain ol' street car.
According to the registry, the owner (in '67) took the car to Baldwin-Motion Performance to make it a drag-car. They were a big speed shop here on Long Island, that specialized in Chevy's.
They added the funky pipes, etc.

3159 is significant as the first "return-to-the-wide-hip" cars, so says the registry.

Gotta love those DragonSnakes--whether it be SB or BB's. They have a certain earthy quality to them---independent gearheads running them on weekends and driving them to work on weekdays. Not much factory support, either. Real renegades.

Cool Dante Deuce

As we are on the subject of dragonsnakes and drag racing cobras has anybody heard of Dante Deuce? I believe he raced a F.I.A. Cobra for Dean Moon or Shelby himself in various drag race and sprinting events in Great Britain 1964. I have a picture of the car at Kemble airfield near Gloucestershire on my living room wall. Does anybody know anything about Dante Deuce, is he still alive? this probably leads to another interesting story.

The picture posted by hurricaneharold is not the same car as above. It is a 289 car. It is mislabled as a 427 (CSX3XXX). The forward braced roll bar, deck mounted fuel filler, narrow rear fenders and flat area surrounding front wheel opening are all telltale signs of a 289.

Actually, that serial number belongs to an independent 289 drag Cobra that was owned by Norman Gray. According to the SAAC Registry, "Gray hooked up with Joel Rosen of Motion Performance" back then, but the car pictured is Joel's own Cobra, serial number still unkown. When I last talked to Joel, he'd love to find out where his car is now. If anyone has any leads, please let me know.

Incidentally, the picture came off the shelbyford.com web site. I found the original print on eBay a few years ago. It's small, only 3 x 4" in size. See http://www.shelbyford.com/independents.html
