CSX 4027 To Be Shelby American Posterboy
Now that CSX 4027 is sitting in Shelby's Showroom in Las Vegas, I have heard from Mr. Paul Sabers, the new owner that Shelby American was so impressed with the detail that they are going to use it as the new "Poster Boy" for their upcoming national ad campaign including the Wall Street Journal.
If it really happens I will be truly flattered.
PS. The new owner purchased all my original spares which will be installed for the campaign. They include an original 780 BE carb, Correct transistorized ignition distributor and amplifier along with a host of rare goodies.
I heard they were especially impressed with the correct Impact seat belts and former 1965 Shelby Employee inscribed serial plate.

Paul is comming out Monday to do a little track time with Gary Patterson. Sweet, huh?
I am assuming the two panhead 10-32 bolts in the drivers footbox is for the amplifier?

Track Time
Before Gary does any track time, I would suggest someone put some grease in the rear suspension. It is Kirkham bronze bushed. Check the rear toe adjuistment points. They had a tendency for the nut to back off.
Also, Check the alignment. I think I put some toe-in for the street for Paul but that was a while ago. I would suggest a pinch of toe out. Also, A bit more negative camber in the front would be better for the track.
Also, those treaded tires look great but you know that they are way too hard for the track. I used the Goodyear Slicks....Steve

Let's see the details
Hey Kris,
Any chance you could take some close up shots for us. I for one would like to see some of the detail work Steve put into his car. Wish I had the time to see it in person. If it's not to much to ask...I'm sure the other members would like to see more pics as well. Thanks...... - Bill -

While I had it you could almost sit on the fender. Most knew me as not the Show car guy. I had more than a rock chip or 2 and never tried to hide it.
My main concerns now and always are safety. These buggies can be a handfull as we all know and most of CC I bet has never raced, only maybe just chanced a ticket now and then.

Steve, I will make sure it is all checked.
Bill, I will post some photos Monday night if I have a chance.
Walt, my reason for being impressed with 4027 is the details. This car is darn near a spitting image of an original S/C. It is maintained to show quality. It has a 12.5:1 sideoiler, yet the owner drives it on the street often. Just a truly awesome car!

Kris
Great pics.
I have lots of photo's of the build up along with the first photo's from the maiden voyage 10/31/98. At first it had just the comp paint pattern with open targets front, rear and sides..

Hood Rivets
Did anyone notice the hood rivets and their relationship to the hood scoop. A lot of research went into that and the info came off of original cars with original hoods. This was the average set up although they did tend to vary but..... only very slightly.

Very Nice.....
Kris,
Thanks for taking the time to take these pics of Steve's car, and posting them for us.
Steve,
Like what you did! I had heard the hood rivets were patterned in a U-shape, because the original hoods would peal apart. I especially liked the foot pedals. You truly put alot of time into your car. Just curious if you passed on all the items you collected on the Cobra to the new owner? - Bill -
