Mystery Cobra!!
OK, I don't have the answer to this, I'm looking for help. What is this car. Is it a real Cobra? What is the CSX number? This photo is from an old AC Owner's Club Newsletter. Thanks for any help!

Jim...
send a message to cobrajeff.
He has more pictures of the car you are talking about from a regional SOA meet in Connecticut, 1975.
I remember it from an old thread, that, unfortunately, has lost it's attachments.
The old thread...

It is COX 6053; a Euro Cobra that was customized many years ago. It has since been reconfigured to FIA standards.

To each there own!
Way to go on the identity. Looks like a cross between a cobra, a dino and a vette! NO THANKS

Cal Metal comes through again!!! Thanks, Dan. What a fascinating and bizarre history for that car! At one time it had a 2 liter engine for economy reasons in Germany. Alfa headlight covers for aerodynamics? I love the vents in the rear fenders, though. Reminds me of a Ferrari GTO.

Jim:
I like the looks of the car, particularly the headlight treatment. Pretty European looking. Kind of to bad that it was reconfigured back to an original car.

Cal Metal, I have to agree with you about the headlights. I think it is a nice look-it is too bad it was switched back. Most customizing of original Cobras grates on my nerves, but for some unexplanable reason, this one doesn't.
Did you see the two metallic purple Cobras in Charlotte about 7-8 years ago, one 427 the other a 289, that had been heavily customized for the show circuit? Nicely done, but a real shame to do that to original cars.

There are so few of them it would almost be a shame to leave it that way.

"007" Cobra
Jim -
The pair of "Metallic Wineberry" (purple) Cobras you recall seeing in Charlotte belonged to Jaimie Cappola from Brooklyn, NY.
The 289 was CSX2007 - he had the car painted purple, the interior redone in beige, and added "007" embroidered floor mats, along with a number of other custom modifications. The car appeared on the ISCA show car circuit for a while as the "James Bond 007 Cobra".
The complimenting 427, CSX 3105, was painted and trimmed similarly with a beige interior. 3105 is over at Jack Roush's shop in Michigan. Rumor has it that the engine is hurt. Here is what it looks like:
regards,
Jeff

What is that sticking out the back? A 007 rocket launcher? He must have been afraid of burning his argyle socks..
