Terlingua Racing Team
Hi, i just bought a Terlingua Racing Team pin badge off ebay and wondered which cars Shelby put the badge/sticker on. I know they were on some Trans Am cars and a King Cobra with Bob Bondurant at Laguna Seca 1964. Any others? When did they come up with this idea?

Paul,
You might try contacting Bill Neale, either by e-mail or phone. His website is www.billneale.com
Neale is a longtime friend of Shelby's and, from what I recall, was a co-creator of the "Terlingua Race Team" concept. I believe he designed the logos, and perhaps even the paint schemes for the Trans Am Mustangs. I've never met him but understand he's a good guy. I do know he's a hell of an automotive artist, which you'll see if you visit his site.
Good luck,
Bob

According to Dave Friedman, The name came from the town of Terilingua..."...a small Texas town, where Shelby held his first Chili-Cookoff"

Terlingua CSX4000 Cobras
COBRA
The Terlingua Racing Team edition CSX4000 Cobras were built by Texas Cobras Ltd., whose base of operations was in the Denton /Dallas area. The owners of that early SAI Dealership were Bill Neale and Jack Bell. Original plans were for 10 cars, but maybe half were built before operations ceased. I saw the first completed car and the 2nd car maybe halfway finished in March of 1998. I think one car was headed to the Peterson Museum, and it was built out of sequence as the last number of the group. I have no idea where the cars are today or their owners.

Walter, you might contact Bill Neale through the website I listed above. He owns, or owned, one of the black CSX4000 cars. I saw him driving it in the Texas 1000 rally about three years ago. Also, I believe you can buy the Terlingua Racing Team shield decals through www.cobrarestorers.com and possibly from Enzo and Paula at Finish Line, as well--

TRT Cobra pics
Here is a digital picture I took of Bill Neale's Terlingua Race Team CSX4000 and GT-350 Shelbys, taken on October 20, 2002 at the "Texas 289" event hosted by the Shelby Cobra Association of Texas. Bill is a founding and active member of SCAT.

History of the Terlingua Race Team
BTW - I will be writing an article for a future edition for SCATRACKS, the monthly newsletter the the Shelby Cobra Association of Texas, featuring an interview I did with Bill Neale about the very interesting and humorous history of the "Terlingua Race Team", the "Crazy Rabbit" TRT logo and how Bill modified the TRT logo to become the offical club logo of SCAT.

Jerry Titus in his '67 Mustang put the Terlingua Racing Team name on the map.
