While surfing the net i found a website with an excellent photo of csx2155 racing at sebring 64 with Tommy Hitchcock at the wheel. Any info on the co driver, a Mr Zourab. The website is http://www.racingsportscars.com/photo.html

It was the second car in the second batch of "Le Man Replica" series (with CSX 2136, 2137 and team cars 2138 and 2154, 2155 and 2156 customer cars, distinguished by large side vents and a trunk lid hinged at the bottom. Finished to he same specs as CSX 2154/2155 it was painted white. Originally sold to George Walls--invoice cancelled--and then sold to Thomas Hitchcock.

...right on about the large side vents.
Look at the "gills" on CSX2138

Hate to burst your bubble (and thanks, BTW) but all this info is in the Registry. I just lift it from there. It is an outstanding source and you will find that it has thousands of hours of potential reading enjoyment.

CSX2155
(...here's a few pics from Cal Metal's collection)
A recent photo of Ernie's Le Mans car CSX2203
...corrected number; originally misidentified as CSX2155
...and after the "little incident" at Monterrey 2002

I don't have the registry so I count on Cal to provide the details and Ron to post those great pics. What a team!
NOT the,
Ernie (at Le Mans)

Ernie Nagamatsu's Cobra is not a Le Mans Replica. It is, I believe, CSX 2214 (don't hold me to that). The car was owned by Max Balchowsky of Old Yeller fame (a friend of Ernie's), as Ernie owns OY 2.
However, the car does have one unique distinction in that the Le Mans top is one of only two originals in existence and the other one is not known to exist. Fairly significant in that regard. How hard was it for him to find the top? The previous owner was Benson Ford (yeah...you guessed it). How Ernie pulled that one off I don't know. I will have to ask him.
Unfortunately, the car hit the wall at Monterey last summer. Need some major work and I doubt that it will be ready for Monterey this year. All efforts are in getting OY 2 sorted out for Goodwood in September.

When you look at that Cobra that CS is standing next to, it really shows how crude those cars were and the advances that SAI made in the ensuing year. The car in the pic looks an ordinary street car with spring spacers and a top that someone pounded out the night before the photo shoot.

OK...you win this time. The Ernie stuff wasn't pulled out of the Registry. He is a good friend and I crew for him on the OY 2 team.
I know his bio better than my own. I should know the answer, though, as to how he sweet talked Benson out of the top.
I think I have an AutoWeek article on Ernie's car. First ten emails to me with your fax and I will send it. It might be a couple of days, as I am not sure I have it on file (dhampton@rwbaird.com)

Benson Ford. Is he one of the younger members of the Ford family, like Edsel's age? There was one younger Ford who 30 years ago worked at Stroppe's shop and secretly owned a Pantera (hid it so his old man wouldn't find out). The ex-Ford family car I am more interested in is the black Ferrari shown at Pebble last year that was supposedly given by Enzo Ferrari to Henry Ford II. It was about a 1951 model with Vignale coachwork. Ferrari's car output must have been miniscule back then so I can't figure out why he would give a car away but my only guess is that he hoped that, if Hank the Deuce liked the car, then maybe Enzo could call upon him some time to make some small part. Don't know if he ever asked for the favor, though.

thank you for this great site
after i googled site with "cobra site:racingsportscars.com", I've found several period pictures.
I'm pretty sure that i'm not the only person who collect pictures and classified according to chassis numbers.
regards
Ozgur
