That was very interesting, enjoyed very much. When I was at Bridgehampton in the 60's, I remember a Mod. car with a hemi, I think I have a slide or two of it in the photo. I'll have to check and see.
Thanks again

It could have been a McKee.

It could have been this car, the McKee Mk 5. I know it raced at Bridgehampton.
Or here is the Hussein I talked about in the interview.
Would love to see any pictures you have of either car!
Thanks, Chuck

Great interview. Good luck on book. You have a ready buyer here, so let us know when it's available with your John Hancock, of course.
Love all the early mid-engine cars. We had an early Cooper-Alfa F1 for a while, but never re-built it. Very partial to the 1.6L-2.0L Chevron-FVA/B GT's/19's and Eric Broadly's short-wheel-base 200 series Lolas.
Still love the sports-racers, especially the McLarens. Of course. Ran our 1968 M6B (Ser.#50-16, McLaren by Peter Agg's Trojan) against the Honker (II?) at Road America in 1996. Wasn't really fair. Passed it like he was dragging a 28' parachute. Very pretty, though. Kind of purple colorish. Nice sounding motor, but not enough power; seemed like maybe 100 less than the short-track 6.4l chevy (590hp @ 7200, Kinsler F.I.) we were thrashing.
i admitted it wasn't fair. Perfectly FIA/HSR/SCCA legal, but not fair. It took all of Porsche Engineering Group GmbH and a solid cubic mile of DM to dislodge the Chevy/McLarens from pole positions and podiums in the very early seventies. And Porsche ruined the CanAm series, thereby.

Here are a couple more, found about 12 slides of race shots from 1966. If you can use them, e-mail me and I'll send (mail) them to you.
Are you related to John Brandt from Lebanon, Pa.? He and his son, Jr. raced Corvettes against us in the 60's and 70's. We were with Hal Keck (CSX3008).

Neither of my guesses were right.

Well, neither of my guesses were right. It appears to be a Lola T70 to me, althought this is the first time I've heard of a Hemi being fit into one! Very interesting. Note the corner reinforcement on the monocoque construction, looks like a match to me.
Although this book does not include the Lola T70 as it focuses on earlier tube frame cars, I'm very interested in your pictures for possible future use. I have an idea for a book on Shelby's early efforts in CanAm.
Thanks, Chuck

I don't know the Brandt you are asking about. My family is from Iowa. Brandt is a fairly common German name.
E-mail sent!

SS-COBRA - it looks like that Lola was raced by Jerry Crawford and he may have DNF'd that day which was probably the USRRC race May 22, 1966. He ran the car at St. Jovite CanAm Semptember 11th, 1966 and finished 18th.
Very interesting car.

Anybody know of a replica?
Seems unlikely, but curious whether a replica King Cobra/Cooper Monaco has been offered by any manufacturer?
Regards, Alan
