Default paint formulation

I am trying to find the correct formulation for the Viking Blue that was used on the FIA 289`s. I am told that clear coat changes the look totally.I am looking for the original mix as well as the new plus clear formulation.

Ross,
You might start here;

I have not verified the information contained on the page and a couple of the color IDs look incorrect, but it is at least a starting point. I will also check at home this evining as I think I have a code for a single stage version from an original paint chip sheet.

Ross,
I have a 1963 Ditzler paint chart and it shows a code of 12494 and 12794 for Acrylic Enamel for Viking Blue. Also, when getting ready to paint my car I went to Finishmasters (Southern Cal) and bought a quart of single stage paint to put on a couple of panels. Its code was Nason 95604IM and was listed as 1962-64 Ford Viking Blue Code E. I have to say when I finally had my car painted, I did a 2 stage Viking Blue and it was not close to the color on the panels I shot. However, I actually like the color I ended up with better than the original color I was going for. I also seem to remember a thread awhile back that talked about the Viking Blue colors and there might have been a couple of different Viking Blues available.

Jay,
Mike Shoen says the underside of the bonnet of 2345 is still the original viking blue,but finds modern formulations of base/clear changes the hue.The original changed colour in different light.
Decided I`ll just take 2345 for a spin down to the paint shop for a match. Jokes aside, Thank you for your input it`s given me lots of formulas to have mixed and sprayed.
