The original BULLITT car is still hidden but...
...you can buy Bruce Willis' Shelby Mustang and someone just did at the Los Angeles Bonhams auction.
It was a dark green car, a '68, highly modified (for instance padded roll bar) ; Bruce unloaded several of his cars at this auction including a 427 Corvette roadster and a Dodge Charger decked out like in the movie Bullitt. I would say the Shelby had anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 spent on it after he bought the car.
You might say this car was a tribute to Steve McQueen because it was Bullitt- car inspired. Originally the car started life in his hands as a damaged 1968 Shelby GT500 Convertible. then, in 2001, under the directon of Bob Lyman at Lyman’s Automotive in Hollywood was transformed. The original paint was Acapulco Blue but Willis had it repainted to Dark Highland Green. Willis has deep pockets hence money was not an issue. The interior uses Saddle Brown leather with an Audi TT like “baseball stitch” that alone cost $28,000. Under the hood the motor was found to be the wrong engine, a 390, so a 428 of the correct era was installed, and hot rodded up to over 500 hp. Ironically Willis then found the car a bit floppy in terms of torsional rigidity and had the chassis stiffened up to cope with the power .
