Default 1964 SCCA Runoffs Daytona

I found this Gem while surfing the net in the wee hours of the morning. Although it is titled as 1964, I think it may be 1965 as the Fastback Mustang did not hit production (as I recall??) untill November of 1964.

Hey Rick, I think a little earlier than Nov. I own a early hi po fastback with a August 1, '64 production date from dearborn. I'm not sure if there were any earlier.

The first Mustangs were out in April of '64. 260 V8's and a thundering 200 cube 6, a real powerhouse.
The current SCCA Runoffs are in October, if the time line was similar that sure didn't give the folks much time to prep the cars before this film was made. Good footage! Miss the sound......

Wow! Great stuff!
I have a love/hate relationship with videos like this; they just leave me wanting more and at higher resolution.

The "early" (some people call them 1964 1/2 cars) 1965 Mustangs were produced from March 1964 until August 17, 1964. There was a 4-bl 210 hp 289ci in the later early cars.

The K-code 271 hp 289 ci engine was introduced in June of 1964. The fastback was introduced in September of 1964 so it could have been prepped and raced the next month. All K-code cars were equipped with the Special Handling Package.
