my Shelby Mustang chosen as a NY Times finalist
http://collectiblecars.nytimes.com/Contest/Vote.asp
I just found out my Shelby Mustang has been chosen by the New York Times to be one of 30 finalists in the New York Times 2008 Collectible Car of the Year Contest!
it's a public vote thing so Please go to web page above and vote for my Shelby if you think it's deserving. You can vote once a day
I just can't believe out of 100's of cars they picked the GT-350 as a finalist. It's not a show car by any standard, so I'm just floored at being selected, and proud to be the only Mustang to be chosen as a finalist.
thanks,
Z. Ray

Did the Old York Times give you an Obama sticker for your car?

No, they haven't offered me one yet ( ha ha ). The Mustang has appeal that goes across all party lines, thank god for that.

You quoted Fordzilla's reply, I guess you meant me, I'm in Claremore.
Bartlesville is a nice place, we're planning a cruise to Woolaroc in the spring. One of the guys I run with has a 65 Mustang GT350 clone, goes by the screen name of SCALES here on the forum.

Woolaroc's great, and the roads around it are pretty deserted. Perfect for getting away. Moving back to OK sometime next year.

Yep, the roads are nice up that way.
Let us know when you're back in Oklahoma, we have a great bunch of car guys around here.

can't wait for the move. the closer retirement, or even semi-retirement gets, the better it looks. Unlike my GT-350, which as a true 30 footer looks better from a distance. Any closer and the numerous paint chip repairs start to look like a bad case of acne.

Awesome car, I like that it has the paxton setup. Did the car come with it originally?
cheers

no it didn't. I think only 30 or fewer came from Shelby with the Paxton. And even those had the Paxton kit in the trunk. It had to be dealer or owner installed. The boost is pretty low ( 6 lb.) by modern standards, so I hope it doesn't reduce the engine life. The only drawback to the Paxton is that the car is hard starting now when it's hot. Hopefully I'll master the hot starting technique soon.

Thanks to everybody who voted for my car. The contest voting is over in two days so the waiting part is almost over. As soon as I know the results I'll post them.
I got great feedback from all the forums I regularly visit, as well as a warm reception from the places where I was a newcomer. From Iceland to Switzerland, from Dubai, to Japan, I was happy to find Mustang Clubs that still have the fever we all know so well.
