What are these tabs for? I've searched in the manual, but can't find it. I was going to use them to bolt my lap belts to. My car is way above the stage in the picture below, but this is the only picture I could find to illustrate what I was talking about.

I'm pretty sure that the lap anchors on my 5-points are bolted to those, but it's been a while since I've had the car on the lift. If you want, I can head across the street & jerk it in the air & get back to you. (?)

Nah, that sounds like a lot of trouble. I'd say that's what they're for.....I can't think of anything else except for a driveshaft safety loop on those tabs in the back of the picture.

Do you remember how you mounted the shoulder harness? Is it mounted to the rollbar, or did you go through the bulkhead and mount in the trunk?

When I visited SV quite awhile back, Dana mentioned that those points were there to mount the lap belts.

For my shoulder belts, I'm going to make a setup similar to what SV and Finishline sells that mounts on the roll bar. I'm going to put it under the deck though.

What about for the passenger side?

I would use a rollbar setup, but mine bolt in. So I have to figure some way of just drilling a hole somewhere inline with the y part of the harness and bolting it down.

I think I may go this route:

In the picture below, at the end of the arrow is a straight portion of frame directly under the trunk. (This is a picture from ravedemon.)

I'm going to drill there on each side. That should be pretty well inline with the "y" part of the shoulder harness. I'll drill through the whole thing and just run a bolt down through it.

My body is on the car, so I guess I'll drill up from the bottom. I don't have a right angle drill motor, so that's my only choice.

I wouldn't think it would weaken the frame at that point. SV drills through the main frame rails to attach the cowl hoop....

I don't see why that idea wouldn't work. The frame is very thick in that area. Would you be running the belt under the trunk floor or in the trunk?

I'm doing the dual roll bar thing, so I'm lucky enough to have quite a few more options.

I'm thinking it will go over the trunk floor, since I'll be entering from probably around 2-3" (guestimating) from the top of the bulkhead. However you won't see much sticking through. That point that I'm showing in the pic above isn't too much further back than the rollbar legs going through the trunk. So you won't see much at all of the harness.

I guess I'm thinking if you go that route, you might need to fill the 1 1/2" gap between the trunk floor and the frame where your bolt goes through so it can be properly torqued.

Oh, you mean put some spacers in between so the bolt head won't bust the fiberglass when I tighten it down?

you dont want a shoulder harness on the passenger side without a roll bar,,lap belt only.,,Tim

Why not, Tim? I think if you told someone that the driver had a shoulder harness and the passenger didn't....no one would ride with you.

Brent, I did mine the way you are thinking and it worked out great. The tabs in the first photo are for the belt mounts! I drilled a hole through the frame kickup and put a hole in the upper trunk bottom so the belts bolt directly to the frame. Just enlarge the hole for the rollbar support on the drivers side.
