Dan,

See here for details: http://www.cwiinc.com/brakes.htm

It looks like the standard rotors are 0.500" thick and the vented ones are 0.800" thick. CWI also advertises a Wilwood bracket kit. Here's a view of the kit:

Hope this helps,

Tom

It's hard to tell from the picture what the rotor thickness that kit is intended for. If CCW's system only uses the 10.5" rotor, even if vented, then it's a marginal improvement.

Years ago I put together a package that used the Dynalite caliper and a 12.18" x .810" rotor (including an emergency brake). It required a custom hat and considerable machining of the stub axle bearing carrier. By the time it got done, it was probably a $1800 project. Won't have to do that again.

I spoke to CWI on the phone about this kit, and at the very end of the conversation, just as I was going to pull out the credit card to order it, as an afterthought he threw in an "oh, by the way, there is considerable machining required on the center section to make it work." This is NOT a simple bolt on kit. I passed on it.

The solid rotors with the Girling calipers did a fine job of stopping an XKE, which is a much heavier car. Rear brakes in general do a far smaller job in stopping the car than the fronts do. I don't anticipate any problems whatsoever having them stop a car weighing 1500 lbs. or so less than the car they were designed for. I got a real nice rebuild job done on the Series II Girlings. They should perform just fine.
