Gold Cadmium Paint
Has anyone used a gold cadmium colored paint on their canton oil pan for touch-ups? I just welded on an oil drain back fitting and want to paint it to generally match the canton pan and don't really want to have the pan re-plated for something that you can't really see very well and will have a hose covering most of it anyway...
I have found a few places that seem to have it, but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations.

Instead of trying to match the coating I sanded, scuffed, primed and painted my Canton pan a gloss black.

Hey Doug, good job. I tried an Eastwood CAD paint kit and didn't like the results much. If you just use a gold color that's close we won't tell anyone.

There is a corvette restoration place of all things that sells a gold that's supposed to be Cad paint color. I may give it a shot. Need to find out if it can handle heat. I looked at the Eastwood stuff - not cheap and seemed like overkill for the tiny area I have to paint. Good to know that you didn't like the look.
If I end up replating the pan, I would do it in silver, not gold. But I doubt I will.
EDIT: Just spoke with Virginia Vettes and he has this stuff. Way better deal at $5.95 than Eastwood, doesn't have the red and green tint though, which I don't want anyway. Can handle engine heat and doesn't need to be primed. And the guy swears that his Vette paint will work on a Ford....

I'll report back after I try it.

The cat I ran over never complained about the color.

I just found out that Canton will re-plate an oil pan for $25. I might go that route instead since I haven't put it on the car yet. So I might not end up using the gold CAD paint I got.

Just go to the back door of any local plating shop with your pan and a six pack of beer and the problem is solved !

I had called around and it was shockingly expensive. More than $100.

I am attaching some pics of the gold cad paint on my pan. The color is a great match and looks good, although it obviously doesn't have any of the red/green tint in it. Perfect for oil pan touch-ups in a smaller area, probably not so great for anything sitting on top of your engine. I'm told it will look even better with a bit of age on it. Who knows.

(fixed the tags...
You had said you wanted to insert a "Link"...so I told you "url" for the tag.
You actually inserted images, so I changed the tag to "img"

While you have that Canton pan off, I'd suggest pressure testing all the welds.
Nice pans, but some leak like a sieve......

Eastwood has some good products, no doubt. But a lot of times their prices are beyond high. They're freaking expensive! If you do a little googling, I've found some things cheaper than 50% less than Eastwood.
That said, I do like how they've gone thru the trouble and collected the necessary products in one catalog and I still sometimes order from them, kinda paying for the time I use their catalog and buy elsewhere.

Too late! But they were visually inspected... I guess we will find out.
