shifter position

I drove a FFR car recently that had a 302 with a Tremec five speed and the shifter was bent forward in typical cobra style. I didn't like it because I felt that I was shifting up and down instead of fore and aft. But, I guess I could get used to it. Now looking at the pictures that ArubaCobra has posted during his buildup I noticed that his toploader shifter is straight up and positioned just about right for some good "speedshifting". Does the shifter on a toploader sit that much further forward than a Tremec? Is ArubaCobra using a standard Hurst or is something "trick" going on there?

Hound dog, Unique sells a shifter relocation bracket which I am guessing is being used in ArubaCobra's car. It moves the shifter location forward to a more comfortable position.

Maybe that's what's going on. I've looked at his earlier build pictures and it sort of looks like the bracket has been moved off the tailshaft housing and onto the main housing.

Uniques shifter relocation bracket moves the shifter to the back of the main case instead of on the tail housing. Feels better to me to.
