wiring kit

Hi guys:
Just about time to order the wiring kit; notice there is about 3 popular ones out there. Does anyone have recommendations, pro/cons. One thing I would like is a good schematic.

YOU MIGHT LOOK AT THE RON FRANCIS KIT. I AM USING ONE IN THE GT40. ONLY 4 PAGES OF INSTRUCTIONS. ABSOLUTELY GREAT TO WIRE. I HAVE USED THEM ALL AND REALLY LIKE THIS ONE.

I ESPECIALLY LIKE THE LAST PART OF THE SECOND PAGE WHERE IT SAYS..."TAKE A BREAK"

PLENTY OF WIRE, ALL NAMED AND COLOR CODED, TOTALLY SELF CONTAINED. COMES WITH IGNITION SWITCH, LIGHT SWITCH, DIMMER SWITCH, ETC.

IF YOU CAN'T FIND ONE EMAIL ME FOR A DEALER NEAR HERE AND HE WILL HOOK YOU UP WITH THEM.

I used Haywire. Wires are all labeled nicely, Lots of grounds and has built in relay for fan thermostat.

I used a Centech Harness. The price was good, the wires were well labeled, the service was excellent, and the documentation was very good.

One of the things you should get with your kit is a wiring harness. Your kit not have one?

Ron Francis not bad. Likely a half dozen to a dozen street rod wiring harness companies advertize in Street Rodder.

A DC circuit still boils down to two wires. Hot, or +12v, and a ground. No matter how thorough the wiring set, you're going to have to do some custom fabrication yourself. It isn't going to be plug-n-play. The engine compartment, and under dash wiring will be where most of it gets done. Even the lights and horn wires could be too long, or too short. It only looks like a zillion wires, but each one performs a function. Understand what each function is, and how each function works. Then, if you ever have a glitch, you'll know where too look, and more importantly, why to look there. And then if you don't like it, how to change it.

Get familiar with a soldering gun and a crimping tool. It is tedious, but not difficult when broken down on a function by function basis.

We use the Haywire. Heavier wire. labeling is the best we have seen. Tell them what steering column you have and the plugs will mach. saves a lot of time. and they have a kit just to fit cobras. runs about $300 Bill E EMS

Bill, why don't you post Haywire's URL or e-mail here. Cobra kit specific pre-made wiring harnesses matched to various columns, gauges, switches, etc., would be a godsend to some folks.

Some guys would rather crawl through live fire than wire a circuit.
