Mustang II Busings

I picked up a brand new Mustang II rack, bushings and tie rod ends for my B&B Cobra. The bushings were not installed. Do these need to be pressed in? Is this something that I can do myself, or am I better off taking it somewhere? Where is the best place to take it? Also, the Chilton's manual makes reference to an insulating washer. I did not receive these with my bushings. Does anyone know a part number? The Chilton's manual is very vague on the rack & pinon install, just says that it exists.

The bushings are a tight push fit--do not need to be pressed. You can do it with a length of all thread and a couple of washers. the only washers I know of that are in the actual install are under the mounting bolts--no special unit required. Use the all thread to mount the bushings, than use the normal FoMoCo hardware to mount it to the car.

I pressed the bushings in, and got some advise as to my concern that the washer did not look like it would hold the bushing and rack in place. Now, I have another concern. after pushing the bushing in, there is a good 1/2" to 3/4" of soft rubber that extends past the rack on the side that would receive the bushing. Do I have the wrong bushings? Does this compress down with the washer? Am I more stupid than I think? **)
