Default Oil and Filter

Nothing quite as exotic as you guys but here is my input:

428 CJ bored .030 W/ Single Holley 750 4V
Toploader Big in Big Out 4 speed (Redline 90W)
373:1 in a 8.8 rearend live axel

Quaker State 10W40 Reason: The oil just works for me in all my Ford vehicles.

Ford Motorcraft 300 short filter: Reason: I believe the Motorcraft filter is a good product & I never had a problem at the street or track and they are available even at Wal-Mart.

Temp and oil pressure: Has been good and predictable.

However, I am open to better ideas or suggestions. And keep in mind this is my first FE engine since I had a 69 Cobra Jet Mustang back in the 70's. But I have had lots of Muscle Cars since then with good results.

Default Brain Fart

Hopefully everyone can tell that I was trying to answer the question: What kind of oil is everyone using" but my finger led me astray...damn. I hate it when that happens.

Clois,
May I?
I assume you will get dozens of responses, all of them different.

My experience with Mobil 1. Never used the stuff before but since chrysler ships it in brand new Vipers I decided they certainly knew more than I did, thusly I left it in our Viper motors.

When we burned our motor up doing skid pad testing, I was really impressed with Mobil 1. We essentially removed all existing oil, shoving it into the valve covers. The front two rod bearings did start to self destruct, but only after the two rods turned blue more than half way up. The bearings never spun! Many people I know were shocked the rods weren't thrown, and the bearings did not spin. Heck it was still running when the driver brought it back to the trailer.

And, it would still restart! Damage assesment:

Two new rods, the original crank was turned and polished, new set of bearings through-out.

Conclusion, all my vehicles, including the bikes now carry Mobil 1.

Ditto on the Motorcraft filters--I use dual FL1A's and the work well and are readily available. I use Red Line Synthetic. VERY pricey, but it will not sludge or breakdown and is ok for longer intervals. they also make a great product called Water Wetter to help control temps @ track or on hot days. I think Pep Boys still sells Water Wetter, but buy Red Line oil on line.

Default Red Line oil

Who sell Red Line oil? I tried to get a local shop to get me some but it has been a month and they still do not have it in stock. I would like to order it on line and also get some ATF D4 for my TKO. What weight oil would you recommend for a 5.0 EFI with 350 HP street use??

Default Redline Oil

I get mine here in Tulsa at Grand Prix Speed shop but I think you can get it at PEP Boys or NAPA.
