Contact Double Venom for a set of 5 point M&R racing harness. Awesome. I even have a set of custom Cam's on mine that say "Renaissance Man" on the top with a Cobra snake in the center and "Texas Cobra Club along the bottom of the cam.

I'll post a pic tonight. First Class Work!!!!!

Ren Man

Great looking belt emblems. But I worry about the single point shoulder harness. Most sanctioning bodies I have dealt with prefer/demand two belts/two mounts, not the Y belts. Don't know why, but they seem to be pretty certain about what they want. I seem to remember a thread around here about belts, maybe a search is in order.

The M&R's come in a number of styles. I don't know about the sanctioning bodies but, since I don't race, I just prefer the fit and look of the "Y" shoulder harness.

Michael:

Purchased my 5 point cam lock seat belts directly from Simpson. These have the 3" webbing. However, there is a Y harness arrangement for mounting behind the seat and I thought the belts met all the sanctioning specs, but am not the expert.

Available in red or black, part number 29100BK. Rather expensive @ $169/ea. Might want to check w/ Simpson for comparison purposes and other types of harness mounting

Ren-man,
They do look good in there don't they.

a427sc: any type belt is available. We've never had a problem with any sanctioning body with the "Y" harness, but I do know in some classes way up the chain they do demand an "H" harness.

2". 3", cam lock, twist locks, oem buckles that slip on like suspenders. "H", "Y", 4-point, 5-point, 6-point and multiple colors are all available. We really don't do this for a business, but we do try to help out the Cobra Clubs.

I like M&R simply becuase of the quality and the support. When the belts expire, and they do have date stamps on them, M&R will take your belts back, re-sew, re-certify and get them back to you within 48 hours.

We have these cut and sewn just for Cobra's. Not to long, not to short.

If I can be of any help let me know. "0" pressure here, all we want is to make sure you have quality belts and they are installed correctly!

Check out Teamtech. They offer the traditional 5-point harness in any color and length. They also off the Ram Pac 5-point harness. This system incoperates padding all along the shoulder and lap belts. It also comes with sternum and pelvic padding. I have attatched the URL if you want to see them. http://www.teamtechmotorsports.com/harness.htm

I was going to order belts through Sticky Tire Motorsports last year and heard that about the Y type being out-lawed next year.So after Christmas is over I ordered a rollbar crossmember bracket from Finish Line and modified as required and installed.I have the drivers side taken care of, ready for new belts w/ two eyebolts on rollbar bracket and three on floor for waist belt and antisub . The passenger side is still setup for the Y type passing through the bulkhead and bolted to frame in trunk and three eyebolts on the floor. It was recamended that I l anchor the single Y strap as close behind the passenger as possible .I also realize that a passengeris not likely at track speeds .Would you change to an eye bolt at the bulkhead and shorten the Y strap to anchor behinhor the passengers shoulders or go to two eyebolts at the bulkhead and go to two short sperate straps?
This all started because my belts are the latch type and are old enough and the date tags are gone. The latch type is a pain to get all the straps stacked and buckeled ,one or more ends fall off the tungue and the antisub falls to floor and I can't reach it , I have to slip partiualy out and start over, stacking the strap ends. I saw another driver cooly pluging one end after another in his camlock setup. That seemed so much easier. And forget hooking up the shoulder straps while under way, with the latch setup you have to start over unlatching the waist belt to add any others.I drive it mostly on the street and the shoulder harness seems a bit much when you start off, then an opertunity comes up and you plan on adding some throttle, the shoulder harness would seem like a good measure but hooking up while under way is really a hassel.
I'm in negotiations with my wife .She thinks my interior is inferrior and needs to be nicer. My dash is a textured black paint and is rusting around the gauges. She liked the vinyl covered dashes she has seen. The carpet is just fuzz but doesn't hold much water .The seats are not plush and faded . The seats are bolted directly to ythe floor and don't have a lot of padding to keep it as low as possible .I had planed on a convertable top and side curtains and getting the intake manifold machined and coated. I like shopping around to see what is available before I jump into it.
If you have some ideas or pictures it is all welcomed. Sources and websites help too.Did I say I like a deal too thats why I started withn Sticky Tire because they were listed under Club member discounts. The discount always seems not be apply to whatever I am purchasing at that time.I seem to have a ton of plans, a cold garage and just so much money.I'l be asking about all the other things soon.
The TEAMTECH line is really impressive but what does it cost?
M&R what does that stand for and where are they?

Default Y harness

I checked with Rick Kopec from the Shelby American Automobile Club regarding the Y harness. His response:

"The SCCA and most vintage race sanctioning bodies already prohibit "Y" shoulder harness. They require a 5-point belt and harness set-up: the belt. 2 shoulder straps with separate mounting points. and one anti-submarine belt "

"At SAAC 27 the 5 point harness is required for the vintage race but a "Y" shoulder harness is acceptable for the open track"

FYI......SAAC 27 will be at the California Speedway, July 5-6-7

Don,

Thanks for the updated research! Did they mention where they prefer the horizontal strap? On the chest or behind the seat, or don't they care? Or... don't they require one?

Default SCCA

DV

Had checked the SCCA web site and searched using "seat belts"
Appears their Tech Bulletins and regulations are not cross referenced by subject title. The Tech Bulletin titles/numbers do not indicate the subjects contained in each one. Unless I missed the link, their complete set of regs are purchase only.

I posted the entire e-mail response received from Rick, maybe someone who is active in SCCA racing or familiar with the rules from other sanctioning organizations knows the answers.

Don,

I've got the General SCCA rule book, the 2" thick one. I'll go through it tomorrow and see what I can find. It's 2000 though and may not be entirely up to date.
