The Salisbury gears use a 7/16" bolt to hold the ring gear to the carrier. The D44 uses a 3/8" bolt. If your Auburn carrier was bought for the Salisbury gears, the bolt holes will be too large to hold the D44 ring gear. I saw some place that made bolts to adapt this years ago, so you might want to check that first.
Also, the D44 uses a different pinion spline count than the Salisbury pinion. If you are still using the flange on the pinion, you might want to find one of those first. I bought one from Concours West, but they are closed now. You can buy a standard style yoke that matches the u-joint, but that might require you to shorten the driveshaft.
One last thing; The Salisbury uses a crush sleeve to set pinion depth. The D44 does not, so you will need shims to set the pinion depth. Not a big deal, but just another thing to think about.
Just a few FYI's if you haven't looked into the changeover in detail.
