Default Starter Switch

Does anybody know where i can find a momentary (auto return) switch to use as a starter switch. We thought that would be a really cool feature and after watching the nascar racers use them, we decided it would be a must. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

Are you getting the Comp or street dash? We've got Lucas momentary toggles that match the street switches. The aircraft-type switches may be available too, but I'd have to check.

Bob,

Will the switches take the load for the starter. Street dash by the way. The matching switches would be a plus. We want to put the switch where the clock would be in the dropped dash. Price??

Thanks

You don't have a Radio Shack near you?
Last time I looked, they had a 4 foot section of wall that was nothing but switches, including automotive switches.

Then there's the Honda SR?2000 "Start" button.

Tovio,

I have a radio chack 10 minutes from me, but i wanted the switch to exactly match the rest of the switches on the dash. My grandfather would have no part of a big red button that said start on it. You should have seen the look on his face when i said we should put a fake button that said go baby, go on the shift knob

The starter switch (button) really doesn't take "load" it places 12v on the starter solenoid which provides contact to complete the starter motor circuit which energizes the starter.

On the question of a momentary switch early Jaguars & Healeys used the Lucas button that Finish line and others offer for horn/starter as a starter switch if you are looking for "originality" if not check out Radio shack as mentioned.

good luck,

Autozone also carries a decent variety of momentary switches, starter buttons, and kill switches.

Summit sells (2) momentary switches - one is under the Summit label and the other is a Moroso switch. I think they were about $7, the Moroso a few bucks more. I've also seen them at a good electrical supply house.

Glenn,

The momentary toggle that we use on the GT will handle the starter solenoid load easily.
