Default OIL COOLER and SHROUD in Contemporary

G'day,

While the motor is out of my car and the rad is empty (not much room between the dual fans / bottom of the rad and the inner nose area), I'd like to procure Finishline's oil cooler and aluminum shroud combo for the nose of my Contemporary.

Is there a Contemporary owner out there who has installed this combo from the nice folks at Finishline; was there any trimming or fabrication work to do on the shroud. I'd like to avoid ordering something that then has to be cut, trimmed significantly, or reworked. The car's painted.

hi denis,

found your thread by searching for oil cooler, because I am looking for the authentic look for my contemporary as well - including the 427 SC "mouth".

what was the outcome?

Denis,

I had mine made at the factory (the only aluminum that actually fit!)

You should easily be able to bolt it on to the underside of the body with 2 or 3 bolts.

The upper side may be a problem if you do not have a complete aluminum shroud in the grill opening. So you may need to do some fabricating.

Dominik,

I received no replies, and due to scheduling with the engine builder, I had to move the installation of the motor forward. I had also wanted to fabricate aluminum panels for the engine compartment, but that fell through with the timing change.

The good news is that the motor is in and the ice should soon be off the puddles. I'm less motivated to tie the car up with any work once the driving season arrives. I've never made an accurate estimate yet on amount of time required or cost, so I've put this one on hold until the winter.

John; thanks for the insight. I'd expect that you're probably right. I've heard of others who have trashed Enzo's product trying to make those fabrication adjustments, and I was hoping for an easy out.

Incidentally, I don't suppose either of you have the Ford part number for the rubber fuel filler hose? Mine has cracked at the tank end, and I know it's a late Mustang part that Peter Bayer used, but can't find the number in the company literature.

Thanks for responding. Dominik, if you decide to go with Enzo'd shoud, please keep my updated. I'll do likewise....Denis

Denis,

You would just have to make a simple template out of cardboard and make an aluminum panel that would go ver and run up the sides of the grill opening.

In regards to the hose, I have a GATES hose for the filler neck, Gates part # 23936.
