Default Flange yoke question

Looking to source all the parts for my driveshaft build....
I have 8.8 IRS..and a Tremec TKO I have that slip yoke
I require a matching flange yoke for the third member (ford 8.8)
Does anyone know or have a part number/supplier for this yoke
I would like to try and do all this in a 1330 or better series....
Once I have this missing yoke I can start measuring.

As for using a donor....I have the mate to the TKO slip yoke so thats another question later

Whats comes on the boneyard mustangs/t-birds?? Are they adequate?

Thanks

Tim

Just got back from the bone yard...looked at Mustangs/cougars and even some F150's... The few V8 mustangs were 80's vintage.
I found one shaft out of a V8 LX with the right flange yoke at 2 1/2 inch bolt circle and 2 inch Pilot hole, but the shaft is 3 inches only in the center section and 2 3/4" at the ends where the weld flanges are.
Shouldn't the shaft be 3 inches all the way thru for ease of shortening?

What is the FFR crowd using? What car would the strongest come from?
Up here in Canada to have one made up, they want $CDN 400 plus.

Hi
Here's a website that is a good resource for explaining the how to's..especially on measurements

Denny's

I liked the FAQ's on the link tabs as well.

Spicer is our aftermarket name in these components..
something in 1330 or 1350 series is likely

TIM Thanks for tip on denny's site. what is available local in respect to the ends either from Ford or aftermarket, once i have them there is a place in Kitchener that will build and balance the shaft.

Default Ken here's our Canadian best bet

these are the best aftermarket pieces in the driveline division...Spicer under Dana.
If you can loctae the pieces you need thru a major parts house then you are doing ok...otherwise any machine shop doing driveshaft work has a line on these as well

Spicer

There is a couple contacts in the linked page..in Canada and on your side of the Nation..call them and see who sells it

Hi Ken
Glad you liked it
I will likely be jobbing mine out to an outfit in Vancouver...easy shipping and same day turnaround
Driveline Services...They are also about $250 as compared to $400 from the local shops...
Driveline

I used the forms from another good site to do all my measurements. Will ship them with my slip yoke which is all I have.

Didn't get any bites on the mustang donor thing did we?? Maybe there's a message in itself.

I will likely be using the heavier 1350 spec with the 428...as someone else said that 15 inch driveshaft is right beside your A$$...I have a safety loop but we can't let this be a reason to shortcut.
I was careful; to route my rear brakeline and fuel line on the inner and top sides of my frame rail....the opposite side I did my Battery feed...

Could be quite ugly if something let go

HI Tim
I wouldn't worry about the driveshaft letting go because when the flywheel and clutch let go you won't notice the driveshaft! Thinking of Kevlar blanket for bellhousing. I will be getting a price on driveshaft tomorrow and will let you know for comparison.

Whaler, I use the drivshafts from the Ford Crown Victoria or the Mercury Marquis. The front yoke will work on all T5's and the Tremec 3550. The rear yoke is an 8.8. The shaft is larger than the Mustang and generally costs much less than a Mustang shaft. I usually pay about $25 for the driveshaft and about $100 to have it shortened, new joints and balanced.

Don thanks for the reply
I take it these are newer model years.
I imagine they would be healthier as they are the bigger car...
would you know if they are 3" OD for the entire length of the shaft or if they are narrower at the weld yokes?

Tim, Yes they are the later models, mid 80's to early 90's. I don't have any here right now but I'm sure they were all 3" the entire length.

Phoned a wrecker form out of town..he did have a 91-92 crown vic
asked what it goes for...and I get the standard "100 bucks" answer....
At least my local buddies only wanted $50 for practically any driveshaft....LOL
So throw in the machining costs to shorten etc. and cleanup...and I think I am better off with the custom built for $250.
Don thanks for the info...helps

Whaler... Just got a price of $245 to build and balance a new shaft complete,as you i think a better buy than getting used $50 + and then shorten for another 100+, and still have used u-joints. thanks for the imput.

Good luck Ken..seems like a great deal
I sent mine in yesterday...one slip yoke and some measurement diagrams. They do the rest

He said it may be as much as 300 depending on choice of components

Yes sir you want no doubts with this piece.
My total from tranny face to rearend flange is 18" Imagine what the shaft length will be. What was your measurement?

My trans will be ready soon so I'm also looking at driveshafts.
Seems a new custom actually is cheaper in the long run than the donor cut weld balance route. Have any of you fellows used Dennys ? Looks like a good site but....
thanks for any help

Howard
I came out cheaper than Denny's when considering the CDN exchange .$215 US
I used Denny's measuring diagrams for all my specs, then sent them to the machine shop along with it.
Denny's would be good, but for me it's too far out of the way and priced higher.
They know their stuff as well...great reference
