For street use I would make sure my crank pulley and water pump pulley or at least the same size (diameter),that could cause some of your problems. I had the same overheating with my car in parades and that solved the problem... Also,open the radiator cap and look at the flow idling.With underdrive pulleys,water would just barely trickle out the flues,with stock type pulleys,water would shoot out at least an inch or more at idle.......I'm running a Griffin 26x19 I think....Hope this helps.....
