Jim,
Re your>>>They are effective at increasing the equivalent octane rating but why? VP Racing fuels sells oxygenated performance unleaded, 100 octane rated fuel for $4/gallon.<<<<
Your right that it would be easier to buy VP Racing fuels but there is no "place" to buy it where I live. I could probably find someone who sells it but I really don't want to store a 50 gallon drum of the stuff at my house. Plus what do I do if I am out for a ride and need gas. Although that really isn't a problem as the car runs OK on 93 octane, but I wouldn't push it real hard.
Anyway, for me, the Xylene is really easy. I've even just put a gallon can in my trunk, gone to the gas station and put the Xylene into my tank THEN put the 93 on top of it. As I don't have an intank pump on the Cobra that shouldn't be a problem that I can see.
I probably should just run Alcohol injection like my Grand National Buick but I don't want to ruin the "simplicity" of the Cobra.
Regards,
