Default ballast resistor

I am in the process of wiring my cobra kit, using the painless wiring kit. I have a 351w using ford duraspark II ignition. My question is, do i need to use a ballast resistor in this ignition system?

Bly,

I did a quick search and came up with this site http://www.therangerstation.com/2_8Duraspark.html
While the engine is not the same the wiring info and the specific note on ballast resistor may help. Also found this site with somemore info: http://www.realbig.com/detomaso/2001-04/638.html
A quote from the site:
"Most electronic ignition systems operate without ballast resistors. The Ford Duraspark II has been used by Ford with and without ballast resistors, although the later schematics show a resistor. I am personally aware of a Duraspark II operating just fine for over a year without a ballast. "

Good luck,
Mike "monster"
