Default Airflow into engine bay theory??? Pics inside.





Any opinions on how air will flow into the lower part of the radiator? I'm considering my options :
1. Bolt them in and hope for the best!
2. Run some flexible hose from the brake cooling ducts around the sides of the intercooler and blowing into the lower radiator sections.
3. Fit a "DV2" style NACA duct in the nose with the outlet going over the top of the intercooler and onto the middle of the radiator.
4.Fit an air deflector that starts at the top of the intercooler and protrudes forward at a 45 degree angle, effectively deflecting fresh air over the intercooler and onto the radiator, or
5. A combination of 2,3&4.....

What do you think? Thanks for any replies!

I have a twin turbo 5.0 in my FFR and the intercooler is placed almost exactly as you have your setup. I haven't had any problems with it here in the Alabama heat. It runs between 175 and 185 at cruise. If I get stuck in stop and go traffic it will warm up to around 200 but cools back off quickly when I get underway.

I am using a standard HD 3 core radiator with a puller fan. That monster radiator you have will probably be more than adequate.

Hi Mike,
I remember ages ago you said you had a similar intercooler placement. I'm glad you haven't had any problems since you last mentioned it! Have you ducted any extra air towards the radiator? What size and brand puller fan are you using? 160 degree thermostat?

(I'm still worried how the water temp will be on a race track.....)

Craig,

No extra air ducted to the radiator. I am running a 180 stat with a Spal puller fan with aluminum shroud. Can't comment on the race track experience as I haven't yet had one with the car.
